Over the weekend, alleged Atlanta Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph was finally captured in North Carolina after 5 years on the run, becoming one of America's most wanted criminals. Not only was he caught such a long time after the manhunt began, but it happened outside a grocery store, where he was caught buying batteries for his flashlights and had newer tennis shoes on his feet. Rudolph was likely aided by family/friends and those who supported his extreme methods of taking the "law" into his own hands, which made him sort of a local legend.
This got me to thinking....just out of curiosity...
Could you survive on the run for 5 years as this man did? Could/Would you cut it in the harsh N. Carolina mountains, or would you flee to other parts? What would you do during all that time you were alone, with (likely) nobody to talk to? What would you eat, and where would you sleep?
How would you evade the law?

I'm such a wimp that I'd go right to the cops after I did it. But I'm such a wimp that I wouldn't do it!

between Tax File numbers and other Big Brother things, a bit like your
Social Security numbers, it's getting harder to do anything away from
the government eye.
Guess I'd have to hide in the Dungeon (please Lil).

I could probably survive as long as he did, I have read enough survival books to know what I could do in order to eat and find shelter.
If you can put your mind to it, anything is possible

Well, this thread surfaced again.
I have two notes for you RangerGuy.;)
You may find that escape and evasion is a bit tougher than just wilderness survival. Even in your own country where you speak the language and match the population.
After reading & viewing much erotica, was your first actual experience just as planned?

I've always thought of myself as a survivor. Been in the middle of nowhere for a couple of weeks and made it ok.
Ok....Ok....I kinda smelled and needed to shave things......and the things I was reduced to when it came to hygiene.....well......never mind......but for the most part I know how to get around in the woods! I know what to eat and what not to eat......I could make water from a piece of plastic and a rock (takes a while but it can be done)......I know what snakes are cute and which ones to avoid...........
Yea! I could do it.........but I would hate every friggin minute of it if I couldn't have a potty to use or TP as a soothing wipe.

Ten years ago probable, but would rather hide in the Rocky Mountan range, more room to move around in.
