Streaker chaos at royal tea party Jul 23 2003
A teenager dropped his trousers at the Queen's garden party before streaking across the Buckingham Palace lawns shouting "Wahey!", eyewitnesses said.
Guests cheered as a Yeoman of the Guard in ceremonial dress rugby tackled the 17-year-old, pulling him to the floor as he approached the Royal tea tent.
It was not clear if the youth, a guest at the party with his parents, fully exposed himself or not.
Police spoke to him but he was not arrested and was later escorted out of the Palace grounds with his embarrassed parents.
Scotland Yard said the teenager was not drunk and it is thought he may have pulled the stunt for a bet with his brother.
No further details about him were released.
Members of the Royal Family attending the garden party included the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Princess Royal and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
Witness Victor Fisk, who was with his family at the event for more than 8,000 people, said the streaker dropped his trousers as he ran across the grass.
Flower seller Mr Fisk, from Chislehurst, Kent, said: "He started in the middle of the lawn where the Queen was coming up. He was about 100 yards in front of her. As he was running he was trying to pull his trousers down.
"He was only a young fellow. One of the chaps he was running past stuck their foot out and tripped him up. They just whisked him away off quickly."
