...I was trying to correct connection issues with the USB/Wireless adapter on my PC the other night, installed an updated driver, and now it's at a state where it finds the wireless router, but can't get out onto the Internet past that. Actually it WILL hit a couple of DNS servers, but that's about all. The routing table appears to be damaged/corrupted.

Please no further suggestions here. I've already done all kinds of uninstalling and reinstalling of stuff, and I've already decided that the last thing I can do is get another ATA100 drive (I've got a second, but it's ATA33) and reinstall Windows from scratch. Due to what the guys at the Tigerdirect.com outlet store did to the damn thing earlier this summer, attempting to reinstall Windows on the existing drive fails and fails miserably (it gets stuck in a loop).

Yes, I hear you say, why not Linux? Well it's never been proven to me that Linux WORKS with 802.11b wireless. Especially on a USB link. Besides, I'd rather have an independent machine for Linux, and not a dual-boot environment (and SCO can kiss my butt, but I digress).

So hopefully this weekend I'll be able to pick something up, install a new drive, and reinstall Win98SE. Please DON'T leave PMs - my mailbox is full. If you'd like to get in touch with me in the meantime, my e-mail address is available through my Pixies' profile.

actually keyboards are quite tough if you do spill anything on them just shake out as much water/coffee/whatever and leave to dry naturally and it'll be fine.

Spilling of drinks was a common problem where I used to work and we just used to hang the wet keyboards up to dry then reuse them later. :D:D

Mine didn't like the taste of plain H2O I guess.... maybe if it'd been mixed with something. hmmmm..

Of course there was no saving it once hubby found out & threw it across the room into the wall where it kinda fell apart. hehehe - :D:D

Try a 10,000 lb steam trip hammer, it's bound to be more reliable for the more satisfying style of repairs you need.

Certainly makes you feel better, almost as good as sending somewhere via catapult, until you have to pay for the replacement.

I once ran over an annoying watch with a 42 ton tank, annoying thing was it ran better afterwards, and without a scratch on it!!!!

For all my pc problems, I just contact my technical support guy.........usually a quick nudge in the ribs to alert him to the problem, and a blow job afterwards to say thanks works wonders.

Well, I might have access at home through a borrowed laptop, temporarily. I'm still going to need a new HDD and reinstall EVERYTHING on the PC though. That'll take days. :p

LOL GG! Just step on the gas and go, huh?

Steven Wright once said he accidently put his car keys in his front door and drove his house around the block a few times! *giggle*

Still a work in progress. At least I can use the borrowed laptop to save PMs I want to keep and delete them and empty the box back up. After tonight it'll be available again. The PC will likely be a weeklong project (reinstalling everything) for the duration of the coming week.

If it's not fixed yet, maybe you can make use a PC at the library.

Our's has them for public use (all you need is a library card) and I used it a lot when my machine needed some servicing. It was better than nothing ... or at least I thought it was.
