had this emailed to me, thought i'd share....
---------------------------------------------

So, I'm standing at a bus stop and they pull up. A car load of well
meaning, bible thumping nut cases that are just frantic! The middle
aged professionally dressed woman rushes forward...she takes my arm
and with trembling voice, she asks, "Have you found Jesus?" Her eyes
plead with an urgency that is out of proportion to a bus stop.

Now, normally I just politely decline the sermon and free religious
paperwork that such folk pawn off on unsuspecting by-standers. But,
unfortunately for her, she is the fourth car to accost me in the last
9 minutes. So by now I'm beginning to wonder what the heck is wrong
with these people. I mean if it's not Christians, it's the Jehovah's
Witnesses. Can a simple Druid get no peace?

So calmly as I can muster, without being sarcastic, I reply, "You
people lost him, again??"

The woman looks confused. This is not the response she was hoping for
and she needs to regroup. She takes a deep breath intending to launch
into her sales pitch for her God, and church, paying no heed to the
concept that I might not be into being converted. I decide to not let
her get going so I launch into a speech of my own.

"What is wrong with you Christians? Every time I turn around you've
lost Him!" I hit her with a glare of accusation. "I mean really..." I
take a measured breath. "How do you expect to have anyone follow a
deity that you can't even find!"

The poor woman looks stunned. This isn't going so good. Panicked she
looks desperately to the car...surely one of the men can help.
Undaunted I press on... "Maybe the problem is with you people. I mean
Muslims never seem to lose their deity. Come to think of it, neither
do Jews or Pagans of any kind."

I look at the man getting out of the car. He's all smiles. "I realize
you people used to burn people like me at the stake. What was that
about...deity even? I may be a Pagan-heathen, but I have never ever
woke up panicked that I couldn't find my Goddess or God. They are
always right where they should be... In the fire of my candle, in the
air that I breath, in the earth that I stand on, in the water of my
spring. I never feel abandoned by my deity(ies).

"Of course, you Christians aren't much fun," I continue. By now they
are all out of the car. Befuddled, aghast, and at a loss for words.
"Of course," I offer trying to give them some defense for losing
Jesus. "He could have left due to religious differences. If I remember
correctly, He was Jewish. So if you're really so eager to find him,"
I smile gently to soften the blow, "check the nearest synagogue. He's
probably in there. Also, you folks should try and remember that this
is America...where freedom of religion means ALL religions."

Slowly they climb back into their car and drive away.

I stand at the bus stop... No pamphlets, no bible, no dogma. I haven't
found Jesus, but I haven't lost him either. :)

Someone sent this to you because they believe no one can have too much
Deity. It is a blessing in disguise. You can keep it to yourself or
pass it on. Oh, and if you've found Jesus, please get his face on the
evening news A.S.A.P, so the Christians can stop looking for him.

Jesus is coming!

Will you spit or swallow?

:D

Christianity and me don't really get along. I like to ask questions, and "It just is" or "I just know" don't cut it as anwers.

Tolerance towards other people's faith is a good thing. But it does not include tolerating the ultra right,in your face, put God back into government, bible thumping {to bust thumping the bible to actually read it.}fanatics.Question??? What does Timothy McVey and Osama Bin Lauden have in common? I asked a real nut case that was yammering on about what the bible says about homosexuals and witches and other assorted denizens,if he knew where it was written that if your right arm offends, cut it off and if your eye is offensive, pluck it out. He looked at me kind of quizical, until I informed him that his right arm and eye was offending me.

And Jesus said, "I give you a new commandment. Love one another, as I have loved you."

I'm copying this right now to send to a few individuals who unfortunately have sent me some interesting email. I have friends and family who seem to assume because they know me and like me I have to be the exact religion they are and want their email about how "their" religion is so great.

I agree with pantyfanatic about saving these great comments for the fanatics. And I'm sure no matter what religion you are, these people who get in your face about it have to be annoying...even embarassing for the ones who's religion they claim to represent.

So I hope everyone can for once have some good email, not some fanatical ones. And the next person to bang on my door had better be selling something other than religion...or vacuumes.

I'm always a little annoyed that a person of any religion feels they have the right to try to convert others to their way of life and their beliefs, but those of us with no religion (but that's not to say no religious beliefs) feel we have to keep quiet about it, and would be seen as somehow evil if we tried to talk people OUT of their religious convictions. Hmm.....it's a funny ole world.

Up until a few years ago i regarded myself as a christian. after going to a christian school and going to church every single sunday and wednes day for 16 years of my life. i got fucking tired of it, realized i didnt actually believe any of the stuff they were saying. most of it didnt make sense to me anyway. after having christianity crammed down my throat for my hole life i decided i was tired of it. havent been to church sense.

Heh thats pretty funny. I find those people who pester you about religion to be quite annoying... I have gave Christianity a try twice now... First time I was younger... Second time it was for my now ex-g/f.. I had hoped to stay with her and she said she didnt want to raise children in a household where both parents didnt believe in God and stuff.... Unfortunately I disagree with a lot of what the Bible says.. I mean yea it makes a lot of good points and tips for living but come on... some of the stuff is jus far fetched in there... Wish people would jus let me be.. If I decide on my own to be religious thats ok.. just dont frickin pester the hell out of me about it....

Damn, I wish I still had the picture. You'll just have to imagine it:

One one side of the road, a church with one of those ever changing "clever slogan" and announcement signs. Must've been a slow week...the sign read "Jesus Saves."

On the other side of the road, a Mom and Pop grocery store...the sign outside "A's Grocery Saves you More"

basically all the main religions say the same thing~~~
be nice
treat others the way u would be treated
don't be a pain in the butt
be tolerent
respect nature and each other
have a good life filled with peace and love

so, whatever you call "god"~~~~it seems to boil down to the same "power"

me ~~personally~~~~~Church of Scotland/Celtic Christianity(mix of Christianity and aspects from Celtic religions)~~~~~~~~but each to their own

hugs all round!xxxxxx
