It's almost 12:30, and we have two loaves of pumpkin bread in the oven, as well as a pumpkin pie. It's our first thanksgiving where we are staying home, and doing our own turkey, and dinner. Just our family.

The table is decorated in a kid approved fashion, with a huge honey comb turkey standing porud in the center, small honeycomb turkey place cards at each chair, two gold glittery taper candles, and two matching votives, and kid made handprint turkey napkin rings.

The house smells nummy.

I'm very thankful for having the chance to do this for my family.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I hope so, Chey :)

All my memories of Thanksgiving at my grandma's are great. We only veried from it 1 year, and went to Hubby's family instead. Let me just state that their idea of an ideal thanksgiving and mine are on polar opposites. Cold turkey, food that was cooked about an hour before the turkey was done, people no one knew from a church his grandma hadn't attended in 4 years, and people fighting non-stop. Blah. After that one time, I vowed never to do it again unless I did it at my house. And well, I'm just not ready to host that quite yet. ;)

Gilly,

Even as I write, my wife and daughter are preparing the turkey. I was shooed out of the kitchen - for my own good I suppose.

not quite 12 hours later, and the turkey is in the oven. Should be done in an hour. The eggs are deviled, the yams are waiting paitently, as well as the corn, carrots, and rolls. The stuffing is stuffed, too.

Happy thanksgiving, everyone! Hope it finds you all in good health, and good cheer!
