Keep a watch out for people standing near you in the checkout line at
retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. who have a cell phone in
hand. With the new camera cell phones, they can take a picture of your
credit card, which gives them your name, number, and expiration date.

Identification theft is one of the fastest growing scams today, and this is
just another example of the means that are being used. So...be aware of
your surroundings. Please forward to all your friends and family

I know most shops can be noisy places but most camra phones have a loud synthesised click on them to try to prevent this type of thing. This I believe was included to try to prevent Japanese train passengers taking pictures up the skirts of unaware women on trains.

I have heard you can disable the click on a lot of them.

Stop these people from taknig candid upskirt photos... go naked. :p (Sorry)

That is something I haven't thought about either, but I could see peeps trying to do it that way.

When I started reading this thread I thought maybe I should be wary of people standing close because they might start in with an Amway pitch... :p lol

I have one and you can't disable the click - well I don't know how to that is LOL. Also thinking about it the res isn't that hot on ine either so you'd have to ahve it really close to get the card details to come out.

in the local paper about a week ago some one had there atm
card acount empted some one had put a micro camra on the atm
to read there details off the card and watched from a distance using something to look as they put in there pin number
so be extra care full for this too

I will have to watch out for that, not that people generally stand very close to me in the checkout line. I'm just alittle to big and mean looking plus I don't like to have people I don't know stand very close.
