Reading online blogs seem to be like reading someone's diary to me. I find it an interesting concept considering I would have died if someone read my diary and to have it available to all seems contrary to the privacy I felt a diary afforded me. I've noticed that a couple members, typically the young college girls, have blogs and have them in their signatures and profiles. I've enjoyed perusing them and getting a glimpse into their thoughts.

I was just curious if you have read any or have kept a blog? What is it's appeal? Do you tell everyone where to find it or is it a secret place for your personal reflections?

Well, the whole purpose of a blog is inflict your life on the world. But of course, only if the world actually goes and reads it.

I have several... the one that is in my signature, which isn't a journal-type blog, and a regular journal blog, the address of which is only shared with close friends. I do write in it fairly regularly, and I like to read the blogs of my friends to keep up with what's going on in their lives, especially the friends that I don't get to talk to as often as I would like. As for the diary part of it... people only read what you write. I don't write about my every thought and dream, only those I wish to share. And even then, things are only shared with my close friends. Blogs have become quite the online trend. I do enjoy reading random blogs too, just the voyeur in me, I suppose. :)

I have one on the message board I run for my MUD, and I have one online that I update once every 3 or 4 weeks. The MUD one I update about once a day, sometimes twice. It's a good place to get things off my chest if something's bugging me.

Of course, the difference between an online and a personal diary/blog is that you KNOW it'll be veiwed, and it'd just be dumb to post things you don't want other's to see or know.

It's a nice place to rant about things that are happening, though. I've always thought writing down your feelings when you are upset is a good way to get over them, and feel better.

My SO has one, and we enjoy posting pictures and a general itinerary of our travels. It keeps friends current on our travels and experiences, and can be fun. I would never post anything too personal there, though!

I have one, I don't post anything overly personal in there.
