OK, I admit it ... sometimes I have to be dragged (kicking and screaming) into the modern world .... I just got me a DVD player, but I don't usually rent movies ... I usually buy them .... so, tell me ... what's your favorite DVD (that you own - or have rented) cause I need some suggestions so I can start my collection. thanks!

I know War flicks aren't everyone's forte but the "Band of Brothers" box set is fantastic. A bit pricy but worth it.
Some other of my favorites...
Lord Of The Rings (any and all)
Office Space
Tombstone
Quills
And an off the wall suggestion, but one I truly love: "The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare~ Abridged" by The Reduced Shakespeare Co. It is a 3 man troupe that makes a farce of the great bard's plays. Very funny. Can find it direct at http://www.reducedshakespeare.com/rsc_shop.html or can probably find it cheaper on Amazon.

Ohhhhhhhhh Yeah! You're like me fzzy...I just recently got a microwave with a rotating turntable (or whaterthehellthatthingiscalled...lmfao!).
Anyway...I do know that almost any movie you loved on video can now be purchased on DVD...so the sky is the limit hun! Pick a genre and...with your fondest memory...go see (at a store or online) if they have it available. Cheapest place I found for DVD's is Wal-Mart...but there may be cheaper places to buy um. You might even want to join a DVD club. They are like...say...The Literary Guild members book club...but for DVD's. Matter of fact, I think The Literary Guild has DVD's...but I could be wrong.
I'm just so excited for you! Have a great time in the "present future"...lol!

fzzy - Blockbuster (and Hollywood video -- if you have them) will sell previously viewed DVDs. Usually they are guaranteed against scratches, etc.
If you watch the sales, you can buy them for a song -- I bought 3 for $24 about a month ago.
Good luck finding what you want!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and for the buying tips ... it all will come in handy ... I still have my VCR, so I'm not really looking to replace the things I have already for my VCR .... so keep your suggestions/favorites coming! :)
