for my son's new puppy. The pup in question is a small male dachsund and is red in color. He's a happy lil' fellow and apparently adores my baby. So, the new pup needs a name...we're going to pick him up this weekend. Thanks in advance! :x:

how about your son's name, but backwards (if it makes any phonetic sense that is lol) that might be pretty cool.

My daughter has a small long hair, he is also red so she called him Rusty...although I think that Ringo was better

I'm partial to unique names that have some meaning to you... like this name I use relates to a city I like and lived in for several important years of my life.... and my pet is named after something closely connected to my favorite football team. I also think it's fun to name pets with ironic names ... like a big dog sounding name for you lil dog... like Titan (I saw you are from Tennessee)

Or you could always name him after your favorite character, or your son's.

I have a dog named after Scarlett O'Hara, and believe me, she's every bit as southern belle as her name! :p

I like Maddy's idea of the name meaning something to you.Two names that come to mind were:I had a black Australian Shepard, that was also a guard-dog,in my motorcyce shop.I named him after,my personal bike. His name was
"Chopper".Years ago,when I was an "Enforcer"for a motorcycle gang,I had a
black Doberman/Husky.His name was "Stomper".He only had one ear.The other
one was bitten off,by another dog that tried to keep him from his food.He was
nasty, but very protective,of my wife & kids. Irish

The day we got our little dog from doggie jail Jon Elway announced he would play one more year. Thus the name "Elway" and we always get remarks about it. It happened on the spur of the mement.

Before we decided on a name for a pet (especially a dog), we would go out on the porch and hollar "Here <insert name>!" to see how it sounded... lol

Just kidding....

We always had to get the puppy home and see what his/her personality was like before deciding on a name. The names we have had for our pets are - Tanner (yellow lab) Tyler (male shih tzu - we call him Ty) Tasha (female shih tzu) Dakota (male golden retriever) Oreo (black and white cat) Miss Kitty (female orange tabby) Misty (black female cat) Colombo (black longhair cat) Samantha (female calico cat) Suzy Q (female poodle)

Other names.. lol P.I.T.A for a relative's cat (means pain in the ass)
