R.I.P. Smart-1!

The experimental satellite SMART-1 is scheduled to hit the moon near the Lake of Excellence (http://sci.esa.int/science-e/www/area/index.cfm?fareaid=98) tomorrow at 05:41 Pixies time. The European Space Agency hopes that the debris kicked up from the impact site will provide information about the Moon's composition and history.

From what I have read, the SMART-1 mission has been very successful (http://www.nature.com/news/2006/060828/full/442969a.html). I hope that as it ends with a bang, the mission gets one last scientific payback.
