Today I went and watched grown people play softball. They had so much fun. I wondered how many of you play some sort of sport as adults.
I know some of you work out at a gym but I'm curious about those who just go out and play.

Some years ago I played softball, always as catcher...& learned why some call the catcher's gear "The Tools of Ignorance"...

I was the goalie for many soccer teams. Many people are smarter than me & avoid high-speed balls to the head but I loved it. Many of my teammates were young mothers & that was their exercise.
I'd often play on the soccer field & a major softball game would be happening on the next field.
And then my ACL exploded . . .

I watch some live amateur sport my ex-wife and daughter play, but my lifestyle doesn't allow me to play organised sport.

I played football a few years ago for the company I worked for. This year I started to play Cricket and I loved it, unfortunately I started a little late and only played a hand full of games, next year I'm hoping to play more and maybe even join a club.

Are we counting bowling and golf? I did those up until a few years ago. My golfing buddy (neighbor) passed away and I kind of gave it up then; and, a bunch of us "seniors" bowled each week until two years ago.
Now, I load semi-trailers for charity. :)

Team sport or solo you are out doing something for fun. I keep thinking I'd really like to take kick boxing lessons. Not the gym workout aerobic kind but the beatthelivingfuckouttasomebody kind

I played softball in the outfield years ago then took up golf. Swinging a bat and a golf club are 2 different mechanics so I dropped softball. So now i golf and bicycle and kayak. Bicycled 180 miles over a weekend as a fund raiser for the Lung Assoc. So as you can see, I'm a solo kinda guy!!!
Lil, let me know how the kickboxing goes..... I've been wanting to take that up in the winter months.

I currently do nothing but over the years I've played softball (i'm not very good and thus didn't enjoy it), volleyball (i love to play, but never perfected the whole overhand serving thing), and bowling (not good here either, but it's a good social/drinking outing).

Is competitive drinking a sport? A few years ago I was on a Mucking team. Muck is the stuff that falls lose when you blast in a mine. Removing that stuff is called mucking. The overall compition is like the lumberjack games but centered on mining. Speed sawing, gold panning, drilling a hole in concrete with a chisel and a heavy hammer, building and tearing apart railroad track, Drilling a hole in solid rock with a mechaincal jachammer/drill,a nd surveying. Since I left college the idea of no intramurals has made it to tough to find a sport. May try lacrosse soon.
