bah humbug!

In August a friend of mine from work was expecting a baby. Not the traditional way, as her hubby has had cancer and so they were to adopt. They got the call that the birth mother was in labor and traveled to be there. They spent two days bonding with the baby and upon preparing to come home they were informed the birth mother changed her mind. They came home without their daughter.

Months have passed and we have tip toed around her while other friends have had babies or gotten pregnant. She seemed to just grow more depressed. It was truly heart-breaking. Last week her husband pulled up into the parent pick-up lane where she was working and handed her a picture of a cute cubby 4 month old. He asked her if she wanted to go get their daughter. The birth mother of the original baby decided she can not do it afterall and callled their house to ask them if they still wanted her. That was the last I heard. I knew they were in contact with attorneys and not sure if they were up for another possible heartache.

Tonight I went to my work holiday party and in she strolls, literally strolls. The stroller. Filled with her cute chubby four month old daughter, who it seems was to be hers all along. She had just picked her up today. Signed, sealed, delivered.

Made me verklempt and weepy. It was the first time this season I was reminded that Christmas miracles do happen.

Such a transparent suck-up to the Birthday-o-trix. Beaten to it again!
