growing citrus

is anyone else growing citrus in places where it normally wouldn't grow ?...... I have a potted orange tree since it is probably a Valencia I'm not expecting any fruit from it here in NJ.... why Valencia ? it was spring fruit planted in summer What Y'all think..... Why do I bring this up It's about 18 years old and still no fruit

Does it flower?

Citrus need to be fed different stuff in different seasons.

If the bees don't give the flowers a hand, you may still need to hand pollinate to start the process. The fact that the seeds don't develop is secondary.

My mom had an orange tree for over 30 years. Most of it's life it lived in Connecticut. Spent the last 10 in South Carolina. It's going to sound crazy, but it didn't even get flowers until one year my mom went out and whacked the trunk with a broom. Then next winter it got frosted on. After whacking it with the broom it had a 2 or 3 oranges. After the frost it got about half a dozen. These were just the edible ones. Most of the oranges the rind split on them when they were still green. Try that. If that doesn't work, call an orange grove and ask for suggestions.

I asked when I was in FL one year and the owner said at least 18 years I'm just shy of that now I've been feeding it a combo of manure and miracid in summer I know the Dominican sisters have cuttings of the orange tree that St Dominic planted in Rome growing and giving oranges in Newark NJ Maybe I'm just rushing it OF no flowers yet like I said maybe I'm rushing it my boy will turn 21 when the tree is 18 he's only 19 now
