My specialty (as Lilith & sevaral others know) is bass guitar...also play electric (Fendr Strat) and 6- & 12-string accoustic, dabble in a little keyboard, also can futz around with the flute just a little (have a old Gemeinhardt[sp] that needs an overhaul)
Now's as good a time as any to show a pic I was thinking of using as a avatar...I was gonna try to create my own pose, then discovered DW had captured this shot live on stage...almost exactly what I had planned myself...but hey, I'm kinda attached to my Joe Camel av...

I play piano, and quite enjoy almost all types of music but especially ragtime! So fun to play...

I also play cello and I dink around with my old Sears guitar. Nothing major though. Love my cello but never was very good at playing it...fingers weren't long enough.

If we have a band, I would like to play either the kazoo or the wax paper/comb kazoo, if that would be ok. :p

I´m playing Saxophone, but only at the level of a bloody beginner. For joining the party I am probably a bit too far away.

Let's see...Piano, Guitar, most woodwinds (except double reeds),
Trumpet, & Trombone. My favorite is piano, but guitar is more portable..

Try to learn to play the violin as a child, haven't touched one in 35+ years so I don't think I'll join the band. Will just sit and listen.

I've taken piano lessons for the last 10 years, but I quit in February since I didn't have enough time to practice anymore:(

Hmmmh, guess it's turntable. I play TT, the TT then plays any music for me i want to hear. And i'm quite advanced in listening ... :)
Agreeing with Scarecrow, just sitting and listening

Played clarinet when i was in school, then fate hit me. I heard Charlie Parker play. Hit me like a car accident; that was it with the clarinet. But still sticking to Charlie Parker :)

I could not make up my mind then which instrument to learn but to day i could. Harpsichord, no Q, would be my favourite.
Would like to play the J.S.Bach stuff myself, would like to toy around with the phrasing and see if i could work out some phrasings suiting me better than the stupid goofs usually played on records (IMO) . In the 6-voice Ricercar from the Musical Offering or the Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue e.g.
... dreams :)

Scotzoidman,
have you already toyed around with tube amp sound for your electric guitar and bass guitar?

I dabble in a little guitar........LOL!....NOOOOO!.....Not a Ukulele, Geeeeeeezzzzzzz!

An acoustic "Blonde Ibenez".....it's really old, although restrung many times and traveled to and from all the places I have moved! I bought it on a shoe-string and play it when I get the blues!!! So I guess you guessed......I play it while I am PMS'ing!!! LOL!!

I love "Hard Rock and Heavy Metal" but I play "Classical" better. At least I do while no one but my cat is around! He thinks I play wonderfully! I wonder why he hides upstairs while I serenade him??????

Forgot to add what songs I used to play lol

I played classical, oldies and some country. A few old rock songs got thrown in too. It has been about 6 or 7 years but I can still figure it out again with pratice.

Hell, I'm in full-blown reseach...see, all the principle components of my set-up are at least 30 yrs old, from my 1971 Sunn bass amp, Strat & P-bass are matching white-on-black 1964 models, and my prize Gibson ga-30 amp of indeterminate age, prob. pre-1950...quite the vintage collector I am, no?

yes, you are! ... hmmh ... love the sound of a tube amp'ed pre-1960 electroacoustic Gibson guitar ... and if the amp is a Mesa-Boogie, even better. So lush, so juicy, so ... hmmh ... tackling. How do you like Charlie Christian, Joe Pass, Jim Hall, George Benson ?

Vintage collector, so am i with my vinyl, too (yes, and with vacuum tubes). Own heaps of pre-1960 stuff, 1st pressings mostly (make that pre-1950, better pre-1940 and some really fancy shellacs added). My buddies love to bullshit me, calling me a necrophile :) ... 'cos i have that strong preference for great (=dead) musicians :)

ok...im very musically inclined(well in high school i was)

I started in 6th grade with the trumpet, then 7th the baritone, then i taught myself clarinet(cuz it was popular) then i went back to baritone(which is like tuba)
then when i went to high school, my parents couldnt afford the band camp and crap...besides, i didnt want to be a band nerd...so i took piano class...so i can play a lot of stuff!!

I've played guitar for over 30 years now. Acoustic 12 string (Martin D12-28). I've also got a a banjo, a hammer dulcimer and an autoharp that I dabble with. I get together semi-regularly with a bluegrass/old-time music jam, but what I know best is folk music (Peter, Paul & Mary, Tom Paxton, Pete Seeger, etc.)

(Aqua drools while looking over Scotz's musical gear ;) )

That's some sweet gear Scotz! I have a guitar and a bass and I can play okay... I write a little, (VERY little), but mainly like playing hard rock tunes... And Dice, A Mesa-Boogie with tubes is my dream amp.... :D

scotzoidman,
for the case you are searching new classical guitar recordings (and you do not know him already), hinthint, buy some (better all) played by Julian Bream.

aquaman,
the Mesa Boogie was quite an experience. my schoolmate did not believe it, then he tried a 10 Watt unit for his Gibson. Just incredible, the thing replaced the SS 50W Fender amp at once.
Myself, i am not too much into guitar amps, just love the sound. But currently i am designing and building a tiny pushpull amp using fancy directly heated tubes and also having about 8W of power. Curious how this thing will come out.

But first, for safety's sake, get yer ass-watchin bib in place, & sit back from the monitor...don't wanna short out the keyboard...

Amp gear only, the guitars in combo might be too much for weak constitutions ;)

Well...I dont play any insturments but I do pride myself on being a damn good vocalist, I was classically trained for opera, decided not to do it and now i just sing whenever i can find a band that will have me....im destined to be a rock star ....honest.....LOL then all of you here at Pixies can say "i knew her when......" LOL

I started playing piano when I was three, sax when I was seven, and I sing, too.

I'm a pretty big folkie but love jazz and old standards. I like singing Rush, U2 . . . but any type of music will do!

Damn, good thing I followed your advice, or I think my computer would be shorted out now... ;) And you're right, I don't think I could've handled the guitars at the same time! :o

I've been playing guitar for 3 years this July 24th. I'm better than most people as I went mad at practising and progressed really far relaly quickly.
First song i learned, Smells like teen spirit by Nirvana. I'm mostly into the smashing pumpkins right now. So diverse and consistently brilliant. No album sounds the same at all. Great stuff.I relaly want a band but there's noboy around who I would want to share ideas with and they're not very technically gifted despite playing as long/longer than me.
um.. hm. that was self indulgent.
