Light em up!

Spawned by Lilith's thread about smoking in your car, I'm curious to know - how many of you are smokers, or former smokers? what did you do ti kick the habit?

Me, it was easy. I started smoking when i was fourteen. When I hooked with my boyfriend (who later became Mr. LAW) he said he didn't like smokers, so I put them down. I'm glad I did. he was worth it! :jester:

I was a smoker....

Kicking the habit ~ I woke up one morning and said to myself i aint paying that damn much for something that'll kill me *L*....just went cold turkey from then on

I swear I just had this conversation.

I gave up serious smoking when the price skyrocketed to 85 cents a pack. It was taking too much of a bite out of my allowance. ha ha

I've had a smoke now and again, but usually only at a stag or when out drinking with the guys. And even then, I pay the price voice-wise. Blech!

Never did. Don't know why I never did, but I never did. Not one. Not even when I was a deeply stupid teenager.

Right now, I just mark it up as more evidence that I'm a lucky girl...seen friends and family quit (and fail to), looks like hell. I've got nothing but respect for those who manage it.

Yup, I have had the nasty habit for 23 years. But I am for sure stopping by next year. I have great incentive too. :D

lonelyarmywife,

I smoked for many years, many years ago. I quit when my fiancé said that she sometimes didn’t like how my kisses tasted. Quitting was quite difficult, but well worth it.

Dubblz 07-26-2005 02:58 PM

I've smoked for about 40 years now..It's a bad habit, but hey,it's mine.Seems like every time I think about quitting, someone will tell me I can't smoke.I dislike the better than thou's of the world, which usually turn out to be people that used to smoke themselves,so my "Left Wing" comes out,and I keep on smokin'.At my age,it matters little, anyways.I can still get my smokes on Indian Reservations for under 10 bucks a carton,so I'm still gonna puff,lol..
:shake:

I smoked my first cigarette at age 23 for the sake of a play I was in...I was a two a day girl for the week of the play and haven't smoked since.

I am 31. I have smoked since I was 13. I haven't got into too much on the board but I've recently kicked more serious shit this year so the tar is the least of my worries. :D

BigBear57 07-26-2005 08:29 PM

Yep, yep. still smokin' here too. Promised my son I'd quit but so far I haven't been able to.

Sugarsprinkles 07-26-2005 11:06 PM

I guess you could call me a "social smoker". It's something I can do, or not do, depending on my mood. A pack of cigarettes can last me a month......or more. I can have one today and not have another for years.........doesn't phase me one way or the other. I enjoy it when I do it, but I can certainly live without it.

osuche 07-26-2005 11:13 PM

I smoked in high school - socially. I haven't done it in years....except for the occasional cigar on the golf course.

rockintime 07-26-2005 11:40 PM

Nope

Syngoodgirl2 07-27-2005 12:20 AM

I quit several years ago. Hugs are much more fun.

lakritze 07-27-2005 03:28 PM

I still smoke and never really considered quiting. Do you ladies realize just how sexy you look when you light up the occasional cigar? WOW! It could become a serious fetish of mine.
