Why did you choose your profession? OR did it choose you and if so ...how?

osuche 07-22-2004 10:32 AM

Honestly, I got a degree in engineering because I wanted money (sad but true) ~ my family was very poor growing up and I didn't want to have to wonder where my next meal came from. Marketing chose me ~ I like business and I like the creative process....but more than anything I like people and helping people. The marketing career developed over time, after I graduated ~ progressively in the past 7 years.

How about you?

dicksbro 07-22-2004 10:37 AM

I actually have a BFA degree and intended to go into art as my career ... but ... then I met my wife and when we decided to marry, money became much more of an issue. I then started with the company that became my career, and after a year in duplicating, moved into what was then called data processing. Spent 12 years at one location and 24 at another before retiring 3-years ago this coming August 1.

dicksbro 07-22-2004 04:01 PM

Since I'm retired and here ... I guess that answers the question ... other than with a big enough lottery, I'd love to have homes in Texas, Colorado, Washington (state), Australia and/or NZ, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Cap d'Agde in France ... and maybe a few other places just so I wouldn't have so far to travel each day. :D :D

As for MY extended family ~ not so much. I love them, but they don't understand me...and sometimes get-togethers are painful because so many of us are gone.

Do you?
