I just sent the same PM to the same Pixie twice.

Oh well, now it can be read in stereo. I should have used red and green text so that it could be read in 3D. :)

Lord Snow 08-07-2012 08:04 AM

I thought 3d was red and blue.......The glasses are red and blue.

Oldfart 08-07-2012 06:38 PM

'Tis, DB has other things on his mind.

PantyFanatic 08-10-2012 12:15 AM

...... and I like reading in stereo. :D

Oldfart 08-10-2012 02:02 AM

Too much pantifying makes your eyes go stereo.

Lilith 08-10-2012 08:32 AM

dicksbro 08-14-2012 10:14 AM

Hi, Mom, I'm Home!

I'm Back!

Believe it or not, it ended up being a good experience. Monday night before the surgery, I was watering my tomatoes in the back yard and thought I saw a dragonfly out of the corner of my eye ... but, when I looked it was a little hummingbird hovering about arm's length Little guy stayed there all the time I was watering and I talked gently to it. When I was done and told it I had to go back in, it looked, turned, and (for a hummingbird) flew slowly away. I knew right then that everything would be alright.

Got to the hospital and the lady in Admitting (after I got the required blood test), told my wife and I what a pleasure it was to find someone unafraid and actually cheerful on the day of surgery. She came around and gave both of us a big hug.

Folks in surgery were terrific and the doctor was in a bright and cheerful mood. Surgery, expected to last as long as 2 1/2 hours, ended up taking only 45 minutes. In fact, when I woke up in recovery, I asked if we'd be starting soon.

Anyway, all the cancer was removed along with a spot that was nothing more than benign scar tissue. CANCER IS GONE! Praise God.

Got into my room and within a couple hours or so, I went for my first walk. Walked about 1/2 mile and the nurse walking with me had me slow down a bit but I was walking too fast for her. :) Made two more walks the same day. Rest of the time, I did four walks each day of about 1.5 miles each. Not bad for just getting out of surgery.

Great young nurse from Nova Scotia and a young technician were the only two that stayed with me. Rest had me slow down.

Had a housekeeper that did my room and after a couple of days, she sang a soft Christian song for me (very uplifting), and the day I checked out, she and anther housekeeper came by and sang a duet for me. What a great joy they were.

All the nurses and technicians were exceptional. Very loving people who care so deeply about their patients. They were truly a blessing.

Anyway, home again now and already did one of my outdoor walks here near our house. Lots of friends have visited and ... hey ... the sky is blue, the temperatures mild, and there's just a lot of joy that I'm feeling right now.

Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts and prayers, they mean more than you can imagine. God bless you all!

DB

 Hi DB!

dicksbro 08-14-2012 07:16 PM

Thanks, everyone. The week has really been a special time with so many good things that I don't even think of the cancer as having been bad. It opened the door for the good!

PantyFanatic 08-14-2012 08:56 PM

5 members, 98 'visitors'. That's a lot of lurkers.

ShadowDancer 08-14-2012 09:26 PM

YAY! Good to see you back DB! :)

dicksbro 08-15-2012 04:36 AM

Thanks, ShadowDancer! It's good to be back. I was experiencing Pixie-Withdrawal symptoms.

PantyFanatic 08-25-2012 11:51 PM

Most interesting newest member choice of screen names. :rolleyes2

Oldfart 08-26-2012 12:18 AM

Good Morning Vietnam fan?

dicksbro 08-26-2012 04:44 AM

G'day to all the folks south of the equator!

Oldfart 08-26-2012 06:51 AM

G'day to all you Northerners, even the southern ones.

Lilith 08-26-2012 09:48 AM

You are more south than me but because you are upside down you don't realize it :p

Oldfart 08-26-2012 05:57 PM

Yes, but I have a bullet-proof barrier called the equator to hide behind.

PantyFanatic 08-26-2012 08:01 PM

^^^ The northest southerner and the southest northerner playing the dozens. :roflmao:

Oldfart 08-27-2012 07:17 PM

Dozen matter PF. 'Sorright.

Oldfart 08-28-2012 09:01 PM

I hope the storm, when it gets up north, has just enough water to put some water in the soil without washing everything away. It's too late for the corn, but may salvage some soy (maybe).

dicksbro 09-02-2012 01:11 AM

We Got Rain! :d

Oldfart 09-02-2012 03:14 AM

Enough to be useful, or is it just teasing the grass?

dicksbro 09-04-2012 05:44 AM

About 5 inches over 2 days ... good, but we're still down about 6 or 7 inches from where we should be for the year. (It's too late for the corn, but, the soybeans were helped. )

sodaklostsoul 09-04-2012 04:15 PM

dicksbro 09-05-2012 01:50 AM

Corn yield in Illinois is estimated to be down about 70% this year. Watch your food prices in the months to come. :(

jay-t 09-05-2012 09:28 PM

Cattle feed here has already gone up $50 a ton.Corn at the farmers market is about.75 an ear.

dicksbro 09-06-2012 04:16 AM

Our corn is still around .30 to .35 an ear ... but most of the sweet corn was harvested earlier. Mainly field corn left. Good friend who farms about 4K acres has brought in about 600 and said while he normally averages 220 +/- bushels to the acre only averaged about 60 on these acres. Just hoping the rest will be a little better ... 100 to 120. :(

sodaklostsoul 09-10-2012 01:26 PM

:box:

Gas is high, rent is high, food is high but my pay sure isn't high!!!!

:ranting: done.

dicksbro 09-11-2012 01:36 AM

BALTIMORE RAVENS

44-13 over Cincinnati! :D

:line::line::line:

On a side note ... it was nice seeing Peyton Manning playing up to his ol' standards! I'm sure the Broncos and Elway were happy, too. Colt's probably wished they had him against Chicago.

Lord Snow 09-11-2012 06:15 AM

Patriots hit 34-13 over the Titans. What is with some of these teams? Are they putting on their uniform, showing up, and then forgetting how to play the game?

sodaklostsoul 09-13-2012 06:49 PM

Going to Darts, see ya laters, even tho I'm playing for a new team cause mine took season off. :(
