I confess I'm having an emotional day and I'm not really sure why.

Pita 07-01-2010 08:12 PM

I confess that I've been doing a lot of imagining about when is he going to pop the question and put a ring on this finger of mine.

I confess that I just drove around town in my car! And I only stalled two or three times!

My problem isn't only that I let out the clutch too fast... It's also that I often try to start in 3rd gear because 1st is so hard to find! For some reason I have to press down on the gear shift like I'm going to put it in reverse so that it will go in 1st.

I'm soooo looking forward to being able to drive around without people honking at me all the time!!! :p

I confess that I saw the new Tom Cruise movie today and I loved it! :D

I confess that I went to my sister's funeral today.

It was a culture shock, much as I expected.

The prayer for the dead was tacked on to the end of the noon prayers,

then off to the cemetery for the burial sans coffin.

I’m glad it’s all over.

Lilith 07-05-2010 08:11 AM

((hugs)) so hard. Funerals are never easy but I can see why this could have been particularly difficult.

Oldfart 07-05-2010 04:57 PM

My brother and sister are horrified at the apparent callousness of the burial, and the seeming lack of celebration of her life.

It was a different culture of her choosing.

Lord Snow 07-05-2010 07:33 PM

There is nothing stopping the rest of the family from taking the time to honor her life in their own way. Have you suggested a small get together of family to do your own tribute?

When my Grams died my cousins and I all went out and drank margaritas in her honor and remembered all the things only grandchildren would.

I think Lord Snow has a point. Perhaps a sibling service?

I confess, that I had a great weekend and it's unfortunate that it's over.

We saw my sister the day she died, and there was a lot of that talk then.

After the burial, there were cakes etc at her eldest daughter's place, which my siblings chose not to attend. If they'd been there, they may have softened their stand, but it was the hectic, almost frantic prayer and burial that got them. I think they were expecting the almost glacial pace of western funerals.

i confess my avs are off...little pitchers have big eyes and all that...but i accidently clicked on a certain superhero's nick and BLAM! i was smiling. :)

Oldfart 07-13-2010 05:40 PM

Yes, my avs are off too, but it got interesting when a couple of pixies included lurid pics in their signature. One seems to have found somewhere else to visit and the other was nice enough to tone down his sig.

I confess, I'd like to be in Vegas. :boink: :(
