Irish one of the tricks they use to make sure your email is good is add those little clickable things to take you off the list so when you click it they know your email addy is a good one so then they can sell your addy to more people

Booger---Thanks.I know that some of them are the old address.
My address used to [email protected] company changed it to [email protected] company changed IT'S

address;and 1/2 of that mail is to the "OLD" address! Irish

Also, if you put your email on a website, such as your personal site, etc. put it in a form that will confuse spam list generators but not humans, like (say your email address is [email protected]):
[email protected]
or
averagejoe[at]someisp.com
A more elegant scheme that has been used is to use an image for the @ symbol
This is also worth considering if you are a bulletin board administrator - if your profiles have email addresses viewable, display them in a spam-proof form.
If you're really geniunely offended by a particular spammer (either by the content or volume) there are usually measures you can take to get the spammer kicked off their ISP (which can result in them being blacklisted by a whole group of ISPs, generally ones which use the same upstream provider).

Sometimes the unsubscribe link is a hoak.
when click unsubscribe links or send the unsubscribe email the spammers actually use it as a way to verify the address. So instead of getting removed from one mailling list you get added to 20 others.

Some sites actually unsubscribe you for say 30 days then add u back again.

really sad
