Thanks Ladies, you know how to bring a tear to an old bear's eyes. I'm no great guy. I just love the job.

BIG Bear go to the local western wear store and ask if they know a custom boot maker, they can make a shoe also, most work out of their home or one man shop. It doesnt cost anything to talk to one, explain the problem, the one i know in Texas sometimes gave a big discount for some special cases or he did before he retired.Yes the joy of fatherhood is a smile and a sparkle in their eye. good luck

Awwwwww! This is the sweetest thread ever!
So Bear? Did you consider an athletic store for sizing? Or, as I said, ask your doc if he can recommend someone. Or, look for foot doctors in the yellow pages and call them. Maybe they can recommend someone. Just a few thoughts. Good luck sweety! Keep us informed! (((((BigBear))))) |
Thanks Jay-T, I'll try the Western wear store angle. (not sure why that hadn't occurred to me) Lixy Darlin' I tried several athletic stores and nothing but the Dr's seem like something I might have some luck with. Thanks a million and ((((((((((((((((((((Lixy))))))))))))))))))

BigBear57---I don't even know if they exist anymore.I have an A width foot,
with a Triple A width heel. When I was a kid, there was a Nettletons(sp?) shoe store,in New Haven Conn.I imagine that it was a chain. They would measure, your feet & keep the measurements on record. You could pick any shoe, from their catalog & they would make it to your measurements.Expensive tho! Now, I have Diabetic Neuropothy,& have to wear orthopedic inserts.I have to get triple depth shoes,to make room for the inserts. In NH,there is a Reds Shoe Barn chain. They can order them there.I imagine, that there is something like that in your area.Check with a Podiatrist(foot) Dr.Mine suggested "Reds"to me.They also have womens styles. Thanks Irish, the foot Dr was my next attempt. I can find shoes up to a 15 for her but that's not big enough. I tried our local orthopedic shoes sales store and no luck.... but I'm still diggin'

PLease let us know if you find them bigbear...

BB - found these two sites, you may want to check them out. A few of the styles are really cute and would perhaps work for your daughter. Some are spendy, but it doesn't appear that you would have to take out a second mortgage. The second link may work better for you.

I can only add three things... on a more personal note..
1) You are a wonderful man.. father... and friend 2) DAMN MILES!!! 3) .... ............... ...... |
Chey Hon that second site looks like a winner... Thanks so much. You're a treasure. I also got in touch with a store not too far from me whose manager has assured me they can help. So things are definitely looking up.
Jenna... Thanks you too are a treasure. Damn Miles is right. |
Well, well at long last her Mom actually found a place that had the shoe on a shelf somewhere in FL. She's going to have to return the first attempt because she got wide andlong but it looks like Baby Girl is gonna have slippers for the ball. I'll try and get some pics when she gussies up.... I can't believe the number of dead ends we ran into in such a simple search. Just thought some of you may want an update.

I’m glad to hear Cinderella will be going to the ball in the style she wants. :)
Thanks for the UD. :thumb: |
BigBear57 if you don't like the heel but like the shoe take the shoes to a boot repair shop and they can put a flat heel on them for you. :)

I debated whether to update or start another thread but since I had a question about this in PM I thought I'd just expand here. We did find my daughter a pair of shoes and she was able to be the Maid of Honor in her sister's wedding back a few months ago. It's funny because when the girls all got together pre-wedding they had all different colored shoes so the whole crowd decided to go barefoot! It was a garden wedding so it all worked out but I had to laugh. Now we're looking at prom night and shock of shocks she's decided to go this year and has found some pretty sandals and a gown she wants. Maybe it sounds unusual but I'm just glad she's decided to wear a dress. Y'all she's such a beautiful woman. (even if she is just my baby) She'd said she wouldn't go but a friend has asked and she's going. Dayum it just doesn't seem like that lovely lady at the wedding is the same kid I've wrestled and played with for 17 years now. As long as I'm bragging, she's also gotten some high marks for her writing... that was always something I enjoyed as a teen and even on occasion now. So you know it made ole Pop grin like a 'possum when she told me last night. OK Proud Pop's moment over... carry on pervin'! Thank you for your patience :sun:
