Has anyone figured out what to do with an iPad yet?

They are very popular, but I cannot figure out why. :confused:

Yeah, I know, this is a bit of a hijack, but it would make a great group gift!

If I could load the thing off a USB, it'd be good and you could get me one for Xmas.

Perhaps it is more of a comment on how I perceive cumputer, sorry that's cOmputer use, but I have not yet seen the way a tablet style computer would be preferable to a laptop for run of the mill use.

Less weight would probably be one reason. Since the thing is all touch screen you don't have to worry about hauling an attached keyboard as well as screen. Another weight loss would be the loss of cd/dvd drive and the components that go with it. That's the only real reason I can figure out as to why to get one. However, if you want lose the weight just go buy a netbook. No drive, 1/4 the weight of your average laptop (and I think that's the heavy side).......More or less I think it's just a status thing like owning an iphone, droid, or high end blackberry.
