That's really cool vgavoy :) Wish I drove a stick. LOL

Prophet Reality 07-03-2002 01:14 PM

How about the Original G.I.Joe action figures. The ones that stood 11" tall and came with all kinds of accesories. I used to have two of them and they had enjoyed the pelasures of every Barbie doll that we came across. Now those were the days.

Clint 07-03-2002 01:31 PM

Hey Prophet....I actually still have one of the G.I. Joe action figures. My cousin gave it to me when he was cleaning out his attic :)

souls_cry2000 07-05-2002 01:30 PM

I miss my friend Beth. She overdosed a few years back. We had some great times even with all the blank spots in between. At moments like these I miss my mind the most.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I, too, had a friend that passed on not too long ago. If you need anybody to talk to, I'm here :)

GermanSteve 07-05-2002 09:35 PM

And because we are talking about lost friends:
From time to time I am still thinking about a friend that I lost around 21 years ago. Gosh, so much time...
He died in an avalanche. A strange, almost disgusting imagination about how he died and a nice remembering what we did together. He was my bench neighbour at primary school and we spent lots of time together.

Clint 07-06-2002 10:39 AM

The loss of a loved one is probably the most drastic emotion that we will ever have to face. There are so many things that are going through your head at once when a loved one passes. You want to hate them because they left you. You are also happy that they went to a better place. You grieve because it feels like they took a part of you with them. Losing a loved one is hard and I'm sure that we've all felt it at one time in our lives. I'm only 18 and I've lost more than I care to list. It really is a good thing that we have a family like we do here to share our thoughts and feelings with. :)

Irish 07-06-2002 11:10 AM

Clintx3x3---You really make me feel old! When I was 18;I had already been through Basic Training&Tech School.I graduated High School at 17.When I was honorably discharged at 21;I had

Sugarsprinkles 07-07-2002 02:19 PM

Well,,..speaking of feeling old...

If you want to feel real old real fast..here's something that should do it:

Ringo Starr is 62 today!!

What a thoroughly depressing thought!!:(

Irish 07-07-2002 07:42 PM

At least it isn't SIR Ringo Starr! It's SIR Paul McCartney! Irish

dicksbro 07-07-2002 07:54 PM

"25 cents...CHEAP!" (or maybe cheaper when it started. I used to buy them for a quarter.)

Mad put all their old issues out on CD ROM a few years ago. I wish I had the uncommitted cash at the time to get it.

dicksbro 07-08-2002 05:08 PM

Vgavoy ... "25 cents cheap" was after Mad turned into a magazine-like format. Originally, Mad was truly a comic book published by "EC" (Entertaining Comics) and cost a dime. Some 15 to 18 issues were produced before the format was changed.

Irish 07-08-2002 07:07 PM

Dicksbro---I remember those$.25 Mad magazines.My cousin was
within 2hrs of my age.He used to get every Mad that came out.
I remember sitting on my Aunts front steps;and reading them;with my cousin.Until then;I had never heard;of Alfred E. Neuman.I think that we were 14/15 then. Irish
P.S.Maybe younger!

rabbit 07-11-2002 03:23 PM

where to start?

First off, ditto nikanik...

2) playing high school football
3) lazy Miami summers
4) the ice cream man and those wacky screwball ice creams
5) going across the street to fuck my high school girlfriend
6) my 1979 Datsun 280ZX
7) deck parties at my fraternity house on Friday afternoons

I could go on and on...I'm a nostalgia sap....

fooie 07-13-2002 07:10 PM

I'm sure some are technical things that I'd have no way of knowing about, but I do remember

Flub-a-dub & Mr. Bluster
Captain Video
Bogart & Quinn
Mr. Wizard.

For all you nostalgia "freaks" check out
http://www.yesterdayland.com
It's a great site with message boards, TV listings, toys, games, etc. all broken down into '50s, '60s, etc.
It's really a neat website!!!

Hey PF...how about Sky King? Kukla, Fran & Ollie?

darkmanx 07-14-2002 04:00 PM

Punky Brewster, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(damn that was a good cartoon)

althought i will say im happy the 80's are gone...too cheesy for me

Scarecrow 07-14-2002 08:24 PM

Panty i remeber to many of those nous & pronouns

M1, M1-A1, M1911-A1, C-130 and how about the old C-47, also remember the TR-80 and I haven't seen a 5-1/4 in a while.

roxanne916 07-14-2002 08:53 PM

I miss my stepdad's 1967 Chevy Impala SuperSport

I keep telling him that because he sold MY car, this is why I never learned how to drive and I am almost 32 LOL

biggreenwave 07-19-2002 05:27 PM

What great memories from reading these posts! Lilith...I too remember my lunch sack filled with those little cylindrical treats, I think marketed as "Space Food Sticks".

Fooie and your Black Jack gum...my favorites from the same company, Beemans, were "Pepsin" & "Clove".

Some of my first fumbling sexual attempts, feels, fondling, and panty peeks; while playing "Twister" at friends homes after grade school was out for the afternoon.

I absolutely miss GOOD MUSIC. Yeh, I know there is still a lot of great material out there, but you have to really dig around for it. I'll never forget my sister taking me to The Hollywood Bowl on July 5, 1968 to celebrate my 10th birthday by seeing my first "rock" concert - The Doors, Steppenwolf, & The Chambers Brothers : ) To quote another "well known" band, ever since "what a long, strange trip it's been"!!!

Nice Guy 07-19-2002 05:36 PM

I must say that I do miss good saturday morning comics. The stuff they have today is just garbage.

And for those of you who really miss the previous decades check out www.yesterdayland.com

Movie theaters with a 30 ft. screen and a balcony.

Cars that you didn’t have to look for the logo to tell apart.

Elevator operators that called off the floors.

Serials and Bank Night at the movies.

Street cars on rails where the conductor called out the streets.
(and what’s worse is Steph is riding on MY street car. )

Wooden phone booths and two piece telephones.

Ten cent hot dogs that were sold through a neighbos window.

The “paper-rag” man with his horse wagon that collected junk.

The photographer with the pony that made at least one trip up your street every summer.

When hearing a group play live was intimate enough that the quality was better than the recordings.

(Just thought I’d make some of the other REAL old fucks smile.) ;)

IAKaraokeGirl 01-26-2004 11:11 PM

my sister and I, pre-teens, being able to hop onto our bikes and roam the streets without too much worry

cherrypie7788 05-25-2005 10:16 PM

Well, I don't remember the 80's, and there's nothing much to remember about the 90's (that's positive)

But I get nostalgic about my childhood, when I would spend my summer days out in the hot southern sun in the pool with my mom and stepsister, just having fun and not giving a damn about anything. Then we would spend nights between the pool and catching lightening bugs, with my mom threatening to whip us to make us come inside around eleven PM.

THOSE were the best days of my life so far.

Lilith 05-26-2005 07:07 AM

sorry...I try not to say it...not to schmear my misery all over the place but I'm just not able to keep it inside. It's almost been a year and I can't believe I'm still so raw.

I don't visit here often anymore... just doesn't seem the same without him here... he changed me... and his passing changed me in ways I still can't come to terms with... I do miss so many here tho.. you know who you are... and I hope that you realize that all of you tread softly on my mind from time to time... and each of you play a part in pulling me back here...

Love you all...

IAKaraokeGirl 05-27-2005 10:39 PM

<----misses the innocence of her childhood...I spent the evening keeping an eye on my daughter as she wandered around at her brother's Little League game, worried that someone might spirit her away, even though we live in a small community where people usually keep an eye on each other's children.
