I'm a dog lover myself but I don't necessarily think one is better than the other to have as a pet. I prefer dogs because they seem to be more responsive. If you call a dog you've got a pretty good chance that it will come to you. When you call a cat it is a 50/50 proposition at best whether they will come to you or not. Depends on whether or not they are in the mood to deal with you.
