What was the first album you bought?

IowaMan 03-30-2007 07:39 AM

I was a little kid out shopping with my mom and sister and I remember taking my money and buying mom a Tony Orlando & Dawn album that had the song, "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree" on it.

Did you have a favorite toy as a kid?

Coaster 03-30-2007 08:01 AM

Sedan or sportcars or SUV

IowaMan 03-31-2007 03:26 PM

Well, over the years I've owned sedans, pick-ups and sportscars. Never had an SUV. My favorite was the sportscar but I think my next car will probably be another sedan.

What is your favorite season of the year?

Eastern 03-31-2007 08:50 PM

favorite food to eat when depressed

IowaMan 04-01-2007 06:58 AM

Not really sure that I have one, if I get depressed I usually just want to sleep. I guess chocolate can never be a bad choice though.

Do you have scheduled family reunions?

dicksbro 04-01-2007 07:40 AM

Not on a regular schedule. My wife's family used to have a reunion ever 3-5 years or so and included my folks (since they had no other relations nearby), but since they passed away, the reunions have kind of slipped by. Last year we gather all our kids together at Allerton Park (between Champaign and Decatur) and we've talked about doing that again this year sometime. I'm looking forward to that.

When's the last time you visited one of your relations?

IowaMan 04-01-2007 02:58 PM

Just thinking of that this morning and realized it was just over a year ago that I saw my sister and 2 nieces.

How far back can you trace your family tree?

Eastern 04-01-2007 03:05 PM

far back as the irish famine..irish genealogy is difficult to say the least..

storms or sunny days

IowaMan 04-01-2007 03:29 PM

If the storms are severe it is sort of an adrenaline rush but I'd still rather enjoy a calm, sunny day.

Do you like to swim?

dicksbro 04-02-2007 03:07 AM

Sometimes. I'm not someone who is anxious for swimming season, but when there's a chance to take a "dip," I always enjoy it.

How many family pictures are in your wallet or purse?

IowaMan 04-05-2007 07:18 PM

This is absolutely terrible but I don't carry pictures in my wallet. I lost one once and decided that I just didn't want to lose any more pics like that.

Have you ever had surgery on one of your knees?

dicksbro 04-06-2007 05:46 AM

Never. I've had bypass surgery, gall bladder surgery, double hernia operations and a cataract removed (with the second planned for next Tuesday! :( )

Have you ever watched a baby being born?

IowaMan 04-06-2007 06:46 AM

Nope, never done that. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. I'm sure it would be an absolutely amazing thing to see but not so sure I'd really want to see it.

Do you ever decide to just skip dinner and have snacks instead?

Winston77 04-06-2007 09:25 PM

I eat my dinner so late most nights that sometimes it is just snacks.

Has the spring weather change back to winter in your neck of the woods?

dicksbro 04-07-2007 03:24 AM

It sure has ... :( ... darn it!

Do you have 4 distint seasons where you live?

IowaMan 04-07-2007 05:33 AM

There was a time when we certainly did but now it seems as though Spring and Autumn are sort of abbreviated. Winters really haven't been as long and cruel as usual the last few years either. Precipitation-wise anyway.

If you could live anyplace else in the world, where do you think you'd choose?

dicksbro 04-07-2007 07:10 AM

You mean actually leave the heartland ... move away for the hourly change of seasons ... hide from the marvelous circular spring storms dancing their way across the prarie ...

hmmmm ...

maybe Australia or NZ.

If you could spend a full day with one person of your choice ... who would it be?

IowaMan 04-07-2007 07:19 AM

Oh boy, this is a tough one DB!!! But if I'm going to be completely honest.......... I'd like to spend a day with osuche. She's absolutely wonderful and I would love to spend some time getting to know her in person and to thank her for all the kind words and support she has given me these past six months or so.

Same question to you...... who would you choose to spend a day with?

dicksbro 04-07-2007 10:45 AM

All the folks that met at Niagara would be fantastic choices as would Lixy and her husband, IAKG, IWM, TinglingTess, Lilith, DM383, yourself ... heck almost any Pixie. I think it'd also be interesting to be with some special friends of ours near Chicago and other couples in several cities around Illinois. I'd also like to meet Rudy Guiliani (sp), Joe Leiberman and Newt Gingrich. Not so much because I necessarily agree with them, but because I think they're fascinating personalities. I suppose if I had to narrow it down, I might pick Lixy. She was very kind when I first joined Pixies and I've shared a lot with her and her husband. My wife and I feel very close to them although we've never met. It's in part because we have never met that I think it'd be a special treat to get to meet her/them.

What's the best movie you think you've ever seen?

IowaMan 04-07-2007 02:46 PM

Casablanca. There are others that I consider amongst my favorites but they don't come close to Casablanca.

Who do you think is the best James Bond?

Coaster 04-10-2007 11:44 AM

Sean Connery.... but my favorite is Roger Moore, he was more of a playboy!

What's your ideal way to spend a day off?

Eastern 04-10-2007 01:00 PM

Curling up with a good book..

ideal date?

IowaMan 04-11-2007 04:57 AM

How about May 23rd........

Hmmm, not sure there really is the ideal date for me as far as place and activity are concerned. As long as I was with someone that I am in love with and we're both having a great time...... that's about as ideal as I could imagine.

Is there any tourist attraction you've always wanted to visit but have never made the trip?

Coaster 04-11-2007 10:52 AM

Yosemite

Do you travel more than a 100 miles to a vacation destination each year?

IowaMan 04-11-2007 12:18 PM

I try to but the last few years I really haven't taken a what I can consider a vacation. That will change this summer. California, here I come! :nana::nana::nana:

Do you golf and if so, do you consider yourself to be a good golfer?

rabbit 04-11-2007 09:00 PM

Have you been out golfing yet this season?

IowaMan 04-12-2007 06:07 AM

Nope, not yet. We've only had a couple of days where it would've been perfect but right now there's snow on the ground. :boohoo:

If you are a golfer, have you ever or have you ever seen somebody else hit a hole in one?

Coaster 04-12-2007 01:29 PM

Nope but he was within a half ball's rotation from the cup!

HAve you ever shot par in golf?

IowaMan 04-12-2007 04:17 PM

:roflmao: Nope, not even close. I think I've made it five holes once at even before I came back down to earth a bit. If I can finish within 12-15 shots of par on 18 holes I'm pretty happy. I don't play nearly as much anymore as I did when I was younger. I'm usually right around 90 on 18 these days. :(

Do you belong to a golf club or play the public courses?

dicksbro 04-13-2007 02:53 AM

Haven't played in years but, when I did, I played the public courses. Didn't play often enough to get good and so as the prices went up, my enthusiasm waned. :(

Have you found any of the new George Washington dollars?
