I get ewwwww a lot with things I eat but I get it a lot when I eat my steak extra rare just a little cold inside still
|
most of my friends do not like pickled eggs... I love 'em.
As for odd, that would be scrambled eggs with grape jelly (added after they have been served, not cooked in there). I have no idea what got me doing that as a kid, but I still like it. |
Peanut butter on a hot dog sounds pretty gross to me. I've never had a pickled egg and don't have a big urge to run out and try one. The grape jelly on scrambled eggs sounds good to me; I usually but grape or strawberry jelly on my egg mcmuffin at McDonald's.

I've read some strange treats on this thread. I don't have any 'odd' snacks of my own but my granddad taught me to enjoy the smellier cheeses of the world. Yes, I love limburger and similar cheeses. Any compatriots out there?

Here's one for ya....I am of Swedish decent and every holiday our family has something called Ludefisk. Basically it is cod that has been soaked in a mild lye water and then boiled. Makes sushi seem tame by comparison!! LOL! It is basically the consistancy of slime and then topped with a white gravy. The kids in the family seem to go thru an acclimation to it...each year they are served just a little more than the year before. After about 20 years or so, I became quite fond of it. Think it is a nostalgia thing for me since we only had it on special occasions. Oh yeah, and then there's Ostakaka...a curdled milk pudding served with lingonberrys....

Peanut butter and maple syrup. On bread or stright off the spoon. :) Very sweet.

Where have you been all my life?????:p I love all cheese. I even wanna try this smelly stuff that was made in a ditch in Europe somewhere. I am cursed with an entire family that hates cheese.:o:o |
Lilith, I am with you on the cheese there, but I can think of some cheese you probably wouldn't want to try...have you ever heard about some of the cheese making methods in Mexico/CA in the last decade or so?
"in April 1997, the California Milk Advisory Board contacted officials at the state's Department of Health Services and Department of Food and Agriculture to discuss the severity of the problem. Mexican-style licensed cheese manufacturers, dairy industry representatives, county health department contacts as well representatives from the aforementioned state agencies convened and determined that the manufacture and sale of Mexican-style cheese by unlicensed vendors was a time-bomb waiting to explode. Similar illnesses had been reported in numerous California Hispanic communities. State investigations revealed that "bathtub cheese" is often manufactured in unsanitary conditions such as basements, garages, homes and, as mentioned, bathtubs using sub-standard equipment and refrigeration (skeletal remains of a cat carcass were located next to where cheese was made in one backyard shed, and a dirty toilet brush was used to clean equipment in another facility). Salmonella and Listeria bacteria can develop in illegally produced cheese, resulting in severe illness and even death. These bacteria cannot be detected by sight, taste or smell. " |
Ohhhhhh BCG~ nasty nasty! I would eat cheese in a bathtub but not cheese made there:p

"Yes, I would eat cheese in a sub, and I would eat cheese in a tub. I do so like..."
