Sorry this has taken so long. This is what I have found out.
The first one looks like its design was influenced or is a Greene Brothers chest. They were influenced by the Arts and Craft style, but like Frank Lloyd Wright, stylized the design. That places it in the 1920. The Greene Brothers were architects by trade and designed furniture for select clients and one manufacturer. Their designs influenced many furniture builders of the time. If the chest is hand built its value increases.
The second chest is of no distinct design style, but rather a blend of many.
Both pieces are repairable by a competent wood worker. While the value is hard to put on them, $500. does not seem like replacement value.
