This did ... I got it in an email and thought it was really kind of special ...

A brief moment that renews our spirit and gives joy to the heart.

Kinda' makes your day doesn't it ?

This tiny deer was delivered by Caesarean section at a Wildlife hospital after a car killed his mother. Little Rupert, who is so small (1 pound) he can fit in an adult's hand, was born after vets failed in their battle to save his mother.

Lord Snow 01-16-2011 11:41 AM

Looks a little scrawny. Guess we can't eat him yet huh?

Oldfart 01-16-2011 03:54 PM

Get the right bread roll, Bambi-burger.

Lilith 01-19-2011 08:57 PM

singing Dynomite with one of my chick-a-dees who when I got her was on one end of the spectrum and is letting me drag her to, I'd like to say the other end but we are still not even to center yet. "Gonna light it up, like it's dynomite."

Lord Snow 01-19-2011 10:20 PM

If anyone can do it Lilith, you can. Any progress is still progress.

Lilith 01-20-2011 07:41 PM

fb chatting with a former student- the one who I had to have removed from his home, the one who later hit me with a chair

He friended me.

AZRedHot 01-20-2011 10:47 PM

New sweaters waiting on my doorstep when I came home for lunch.

Rhiannon 01-20-2011 11:57 PM

I was smiling all day

Oldfart 01-21-2011 12:22 AM

Posting from our new block in the pouring rain.

Going home now.

Lilith 01-29-2011 06:29 PM

watching the Asian Cup final match live with the man who does my toes.

Oldfart 01-31-2011 05:33 PM

13,000.

I don't post-count but it's a lucky number.

Lilith 01-31-2011 06:25 PM

We're the lucky ones.

Pita 01-31-2011 06:50 PM

Getting off work at 9:30am and not having to be back until 5:30am on Thursday. :)

AZRedHot 02-01-2011 12:38 AM

My good work was recognized at work today. This never happens...and not because I don't do good work, in case anyone was thinking that. :p

So why does it never happen?

P.S.-I'd rather find out what else you're good at.

Oldfart 02-01-2011 06:41 AM

Psssssst Lord Snow.

She's good at Trump pooling.

We know this from security footage.

Because the PHBs (pointy-haired bosses) are Philistines.

I'm good at making desserts, singing, writing, being a smartass, and giving head. ;)

Lord Snow 02-01-2011 05:30 PM

I love desserts, listen to tons of music, love to read, I'm a smartass as well (never went to college so I can't be a wise ass), and I definitely like the sound of that last one.....:D

Lord Snow 02-01-2011 05:32 PM

You know I almost forgot to mention..................

I always give praise when someone does their best.

Lilith 02-01-2011 07:24 PM

goat cheese and my favorite chickadee doing something amazing

Oldfart 02-01-2011 07:32 PM

Your favourite chickadee did something amazing with goat cheese?

He/she somehow made it edible?

Some of the smartest people I know never went to college. And some of the dumbest people I know have Ph.Ds. It's just paper.

Oldfart 02-01-2011 08:33 PM

I've always believed that higher education (after a point) merely serves to narrow the student. I know a pure mathematician (Master of Science) who can tie his own shoelaces on a good day.

Lord Snow 02-01-2011 10:29 PM

AZ, I was referring to an old joke I heard a long time ago. Someone called someone a wise ass and they're response was "I can't be a wise ass I never went to college. I'm just a smart ass".

OF, I don't think it narrows the students perceptions I just think it's a waste of money for me to go. I don't know what I'd want to go for a major, so I'd end up getting a degree in Liberal Arts (a general education). Which is basically a degree in nothing. I tend to agree with AZ in this respect "it's just a piece of paper."

AZRedHot 02-02-2011 01:40 AM

Wisdom and intelligence are not the same thing, though, m'lord.

If I hadn't gone to college, I suppose I wouldn't have had the opportunities I've had. However, it wouldn't have kept me from being educated. All one needs for that is a library card and curiosity; from there, you can learn anything.

jseal 02-02-2011 06:08 AM

People with a Bachelors' degree earn, on average, more than enough more than those who do not have a degree to more than pay for the cost of getting the degree.

This being our 1000th page of a great thread.

And- today my fave one who came to me unable to communicate, made me cry. We were walking in a line to the computer lab and she grabbed my hand and looked up in my face very deliberately and was really looking in my eyes and she said, "I love you." and she let go of my hand and moved off. Instant happy tears, swallowed the lump in my throat and said, "I love you too ______." Probably one of the best moments of my life.

AZRedHot 02-03-2011 04:56 PM

^^^^ That is awesome and beautiful, Lil. Makes it all worth it, no?

Lilith 02-03-2011 05:00 PM

Totally.

1000? I'm only on page 375.

And that is a wonderful moment you had, Lil.
