dicksbro 01-08-2004 05:11 AM

This would have been in 1957 or 58 ... I was in my ninth grade class in Yokohama, Japan with a girl that had been in my 1st grade class at Kafertahl (sp) school in Mannheim, Germany in 1949. And, the principal of the school I attended in Yokohama ended up being a professor at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Got to see him once, there!

Yes.

WildIrish 01-08-2004 10:08 AM

I love a good practical joke.

Can you share with us your favorite memory from elementary school?

IAKaraokeGirl 01-08-2004 10:14 AM

I don't know if it's a specific memory, but I had the same kids in class with me most of elementary school, and by the time we got to fifth grade, we were great friends. I wouldn't trade that for anything.

Are you a meat-and-potatoes person or do you like fruits and veggies, too?

Is there something you'd be ashamed to admit to other Pixies?

WildIrish 01-08-2004 10:53 AM

Oh, I'm sure I could come up with something.

What's the best practical joke you've ever played on someone?

IAKaraokeGirl 01-08-2004 12:05 PM

I was nearly sixteen and a sophomore in high school. Our huge marching band was fortunate enough to win a major competition that fall, and we consequently got to go to Orlando to march in the halftime show of the Citrus Bowl that December. While we were there, we got to do some touristy things, too, which included a day at the newly-opened Epcot Center. Near the entrance were some video phones that connected you with customer service. Now, this was 1984, and video phones were pretty radical. The person in customer service could see you and your surroundings, which included the huge golf ball-looking thing in the background, and you could see them. Some friends of mine went up to the phones, "called" customer service, and explained that they were trying to find the huge white ball. The person on the other end was confused. She tried to explain where it was. My friends still played dumb. Finally, after three or four minutes of this, she simply looked at them, spoke very slowly and firmly, and said, "IT'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU." OMG, I couldn't stop laughing.

Do you think you are attractive?

osuche 01-08-2004 01:41 PM

I think I'm more attractive inside than out, but I contantly work to improve both.

Is being attractive important to you, and why?

IAKaraokeGirl 01-08-2004 01:43 PM

I'm not sure being attractive is that important to me. I know that I am a good person, especially inside, and I want others to feel that way, too. I do hope, however, that I always remain attractive--physically, intellectually, mentally, emotionally--to my SO.

Do you do volunteer work, and what is it if you do?

osuche 01-08-2004 01:46 PM

I focus on two areas (1) mentoring young high school and college women who want to pursue careers in the sciences and management, and (2) teaching career planning and economics to high school students at risk for dropping out of school.

Do you volunteer, and what do you do?

IAKaraokeGirl 01-08-2004 02:01 PM

I used to (a lot)...vocal choir, bell choir, mission work, community chorus events...but things lately have been a bit much and I've cut down some. I'd love to get back involved with working on a crisis line--did that for two years in Louisville and *loved* it--but I haven't made that first step yet.

What one gesture could make your day?

PantyFanatic 01-08-2004 02:27 PM

IAKaraokeGirl 01-08-2004 02:30 PM

PantyFanatic 01-08-2004 02:30 PM
