I confess that I went to my sister's funeral today.

It was a culture shock, much as I expected.

The prayer for the dead was tacked on to the end of the noon prayers,

then off to the cemetery for the burial sans coffin.

I’m glad it’s all over.

Lilith 07-05-2010 08:11 AM

((hugs)) so hard. Funerals are never easy but I can see why this could have been particularly difficult.

Oldfart 07-05-2010 04:57 PM

My brother and sister are horrified at the apparent callousness of the burial, and the seeming lack of celebration of her life.

It was a different culture of her choosing.

Lord Snow 07-05-2010 07:33 PM

There is nothing stopping the rest of the family from taking the time to honor her life in their own way. Have you suggested a small get together of family to do your own tribute?

When my Grams died my cousins and I all went out and drank margaritas in her honor and remembered all the things only grandchildren would.

I think Lord Snow has a point. Perhaps a sibling service?

Lord Snow 07-05-2010 09:47 PM

I confess, that I had a great weekend and it's unfortunate that it's over.

We saw my sister the day she died, and there was a lot of that talk then.

After the burial, there were cakes etc at her eldest daughter's place, which my siblings chose not to attend. If they'd been there, they may have softened their stand, but it was the hectic, almost frantic prayer and burial that got them. I think they were expecting the almost glacial pace of western funerals.

i confess my avs are off...little pitchers have big eyes and all that...but i accidently clicked on a certain superhero's nick and BLAM! i was smiling. :)

Oldfart 07-13-2010 05:40 PM

Yes, my avs are off too, but it got interesting when a couple of pixies included lurid pics in their signature. One seems to have found somewhere else to visit and the other was nice enough to tone down his sig.

dicksbro 07-22-2010 04:15 AM

I confess, I'd like to be in Vegas. :boink: :(

Aqua 07-22-2010 04:33 AM

I confess = wish db and his Mrs were able to join us in Vegas.

I also confess I wish I was still saying good night at the elevators.

Neige 07-24-2010 02:47 PM

I confess my boots smell pretty bad. :fart:

Lord Snow 07-24-2010 03:18 PM

Can't be any worse than mine. I have a pair of military style boots made by Redback. Expensive as hell, but I've been wearing them for two years and show very little signs of wear and tear other than needing a good polish. Wearing them in a 100+F warehouse, and riding my motorcycle has made them....fragrant.

Lord Snow 07-24-2010 03:19 PM

I confess I hate working on vehicles that aren't mine.

Hehe - mine are just cheap steel toes from Walmart, and I just wear them in the field where it gets pretty hot but hasn't topped 100°F yet. I'll let you figure out which pair stinks more though. ;)

Lord Snow 07-24-2010 04:35 PM

Neige, if I was close enough to you to smell your boots that's not where I'd be sticking my nose.....>:)

Neige 07-24-2010 08:53 PM

I confess that ^^^that's good to know!!!

Aqua 07-25-2010 12:42 AM

I confess I miss having her hands grabbing a fistful of my hair.

Coaster 07-25-2010 05:56 AM

I confess I'm jealous of Aqua!!!! :D

Lilith 07-25-2010 09:12 AM

I confess I miss him grabbing fistfuls of my other bits.

dicksbro 07-27-2010 07:46 AM

I confess, I've sure been busy recently doing things for others.

Lilith 09-12-2010 09:14 PM

I confess I miss him and can't wait to remedy that.

PantyFanatic 09-12-2010 09:24 PM

I confess I should let her^^^ know I'm right here for her more often. :D

Aqua 09-13-2010 07:19 PM

I confess... it wasn't Vegas that was in jeopardy of combustion... it's going to be whatever city we end up in next. :hot:

PantyFanatic 09-13-2010 09:03 PM

Not to worry. I'll be there.

Lilith 09-13-2010 09:15 PM

over your dead body

Neige 09-14-2010 06:09 PM

I confess I need more time at home.

Aqua 09-14-2010 07:23 PM

I confess I am hungry and want a nap and I'm not seeing either one happen in the near future.

dicksbro 09-15-2010 04:19 AM

I confess, I really enjoyed going for walks the past couple of days in beautiful fall-like weather.

Neige 09-15-2010 05:55 AM

I confess I am gonna be in a car for at least 10 hours in the next two days, and it's pouring outside.

dicksbro 09-17-2010 02:52 AM

I confess, I went for a walk yesterday and it felt downright cold outside. Needless-to-say, I cut the walk short. I guess the seasons are a-changin. :(

Lilith 09-18-2010 09:30 AM

I confess I had to stifle a giggle when it was discovered that my visually and cognitively impaired baby pulled the fire alarm that sent the entire school outside mid a full cafeteria crowd. Only about 300 people saw her do it.

Fangtasia 09-18-2010 06:14 PM

I confess i heard an alarm at work on Friday, not a freaking clue what it was for *L* Turns out its the fire alarm. Seems they should have more fire drills when i am at work *LMAO*

Lilith 09-18-2010 06:54 PM

ha ha I can bring my blind girlie and make it happen Fang!

PantyFanatic 09-18-2010 10:56 PM

:roflmao: ^^^

Fangtasia 09-18-2010 11:55 PM

I confess my youngest spawn just tried to pull a shifty i think *L* He turns up with a german shep in tow, which i soon figured out is male, a fully intact male that is. My youngest looks at me with imploring eyes, can we look after him til we find his owners. Not a hope in hell he soon get informed. I have a intact female, and putting an intact male in the same yard, yes well, we know what would be happening.
Gorgeous dog, very friendly, if he was desexed i'd keep him til his owner was found, but intact.....errrr nope.
I still reckon my youngest could see pups in the future *LOL*

PantyFanatic 09-19-2010 12:45 AM

Why are young visions of the future so different than experienced views?
