I guess I've avoided this thread long enough.. :)

1) as a kid I hated paper mache projects, yet find myself looking at doing some for my current hobby.

2) the above mentioned hobby is model railroading.

3) I'm a proud veteran. United States Navy USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) 1990-1994

4) I'm most proud of my job as DAD, to my 8 year old son Ryan.

5) I want to visit Pearl Harbor on December 7, sometime in the next 5 years.

6) I want to attend the Army-Navy football game.

7) I wish I was better at gaining "friends". I have a few friends that I am close to, but its a fairly small group. I'm just not one of those who has friends that number in the triple digits.

8) I am an excellent cook, on the rare occasions that I choose to do so.

9) I'm a huge baseball fan, and some day will visit all of the MLB ballparks with my son.

10) I've visited 34 of the 50 states, 4 Canadian provinces, and 14 countries.

dicksbro 12-08-2006 03:46 AM

Model Railroading, eh, 1nutworld? I used to have a nice "N-Gauge" layout myself, although we had to take it down and I've never gotten to set it back up again. It was basically a point-to-point line short line called the "Harrison and Duffy Railroad" between to small towns with a central loop to alow continuous operations while yard work was being done at either or both terminals. Along the loop were various industries and another small community.

Love model railroading and would like to get back into it some day.

Saw a cute idea you may enjoy. In a Model Railroading magazine, the person told the readers that he painted opposite sides of box cars with different names (like B&O on one side and Santa Fe on the other). From any angle you could only see the one side, but when the train reversed direction coming out of a tunnel or something, it looked like a whole different train. :)

1nutworld 12-08-2006 11:17 AM

Thanks DB.

I never saw that article, but then, I've just had a subscription since this summer. It's an interesting idea.

The hobby is on "hold" for a bit, but I can't wait to get working on it soon.

I've got my benchwork done for a roughly 12 x 8 x 6 L shaped HO scale layout. Now that I've got it built, I already want to change to one that is more managable going along the walls of my basement. But given my circumstances, I think I can wait a while before I get to work on it.

lizzardbits 12-09-2006 05:09 PM

My turn to spill my guts

1. I have a phobia of bridges, such as long ones, wooden ones, curving ones, suspension, tall ones especially ones over water. When I drive, I fear that I am going to crash into the side rails. When someone else is driving, I am highly critical of their driving when they go over bridges. (Cedar Rapids Iowa has an interstate road that goes through it that is alllllllll bridges--terrifies the shit outta me)

2. that being said, I have no fears of driving in large cities though......go figure

3. I love to drive, and not driving right now is driving me nuts (pun intended)

4. I have Bi-polar II disorder, and right now, you'd think that I would be in a mainia, but I am in a depression and not very chatty so I feel guilty. You all will know when I am in a mania as my posts count will go up fast and I tend to go to chat more. I am on some really good medication for it and I am able to be functional when I am depressed.

5. I have a weight problem, those who know me in real life know how big I am, but online I have hidden it well, I think. However, if any of you have seen the movie "Shallow Hal" I think that my inner beauty rivals that of Gwenyth Paltrow. Mayhem is helping with my weight and body image with love and lots of sexercise.

6.I am a very caring and trusting person and I have been burnt several times because of it, but it hasn't hardened me. I love wholeheartedly and you will know if I love ya.

7. as some of you may know, I was shown the way to Pixies by Lost. I started posting because I wanted to impress him because I had the hots for him. I stayed because I fell in love with the Pixies family and fell in love with my Mayhem

8. when I was little, snakes, spiders, lizards, worms and frogs would creep me out, now I loves them!

9. I faint at the sight of my own blood bleeding from a wound, or a blood draw at a hospital. Yet I can donate blood and not get faint or woozy.

10. Mayhem and I are getting married exactly 6months after (or before, however you want to look at it) my birthday. We are getting married December 29th 2006 at 1430 GMT!

I want to add that I am a very slow typist so this list took me an hour to do.

IAKaraokeGirl 12-23-2006 06:32 PM

Well...I suppose that since it's been a few years since I contributed, SO...

21. Sometimes the stress of single parenthood gets to me, and I feel extremely guilty I am not able to be everything my children need me to be and still maintain my sanity.

22. Sometimes I feel I am winning my self-esteem battle, but most of the time I'm on the losing team.

23. I have missed being at Pixies more than I ever thought I would, but it was good for me to be away for awhile anyway.

24. I hope in the next year that I can resume working on my ever-elusive degree, perhaps starting to work part-time to finish it more quickly. It's more for self-satisfaction than anything.

25. I continue to be very angry with my body for my diabetes. Intellectually I know that the things I do (or, in some cases, don't do) are a form of self-punishment and that I need to let that go, but it's very difficult, and I am still struggling to put those emotions to rest.

rabbit 12-23-2006 09:24 PM

11) I am married with two kids, 10 and 7. I love being a dad. :)
12) I have few regrets but those that I have are so painful that they will haunt me for the rest of my life.
13) I have a horrible fear of failure.
14) I am a daydreamer.
15) I am a Catholic and attend church regularly, though not weekly.
16) I will be learning a new language (Japanese), starting next month.
17) I have a very low resistance level when it comes to sexual temptation.
18) My brother is a musician. My dad was a musician on the side. I have not one shred of musical talent in my body.
19) I believe God has a plan for me, but I don't yet know what it is.
20) I have had a supernatural experience before.

jbh3 12-23-2006 09:39 PM

9.I can listen to music for hours...doin' nothin'
10.Perhaps I'll go to Mass Christmas Eve.......it's been awhile.

cavegirl 04-07-2007 12:55 PM

OK - a little bump up from cavegirl and a few facts about me that you won't know...

1. I have two university degrees. A BA (hons) in Literature and Creative Writing and a PGCE Cert. Ed. to teach English Language, Literature and Creative Writing to Adults over 16.

2. I've written a sitcom, two plays and am working on a novel at the moment. All three unpublished at the moment, but am working on it

3. I play classical, electric and acoustic guitar.

4. I have an upright piano, which I cannot play yet.

5. I love comedy - particularly British stuff, like Victoria Wood, The League of Gentlemen and The Royle Family.

6. I used to sing when I was younger and wanted to do it professionally, would still like to one day - my musical heroes are Maddy Prior and Sandy Denny.

7. I am very interested in history and genealogy and started to research my family tree last year - I've so far got back to 1699 on one branch and found that I have ancestors from Northern and Southern Ireland, America and Germany.

8. I work part time in a voluntary capacity for my local genealogy society looking up and sorting out the death registers for my local community - which is grimly fascinating.

9. I have recently sold my car because I can't drive it - because of number 10

10. I suffer from quite severe and disabling OCD and BDD, with very severe depression and anxiety, plus an eating disorder. I have a very bad body image and very low self esteem, I cannot work at the moment and am currently waiting to receive treatment for my problems - but will have to wait for at least another 8 months. I am very alone in the world and have few friends or people who understand me. My OH also has OCD and suffers from ADHD. We make a right pair, but at least we have each other. Sometimes.

WildIrish 04-09-2007 08:44 AM

Welcome to the couch CG.

11. I just celebrated my one-year anniversary with this company, and I still don't know if I made the right decision. It's not better or worse than my last job...just different.

12. Holidays feel incredibly unremarkable for me, and I worry that my kids feel it too. It's usually a letdown and I wind up feeling like a bad parent.

13. Mrs. WI is diabetic and that doesn't mix well with my enabling personality. She has little willpower and I aim to please. And I love carbs.

14. I always drive the speed limit. Even got pulled over because of it once...I guess going exactly the speed limit makes the po-po suspicious.

15. I still hate the cold.

16. I hold back with a lot of things. And I don't know if it's because I'm afraid of failing, or if I'm afraid of succeeding.

17. I've always known that I love Mrs. WI more than she loves me.

18. I only make time for myself once a year. I feel guilty leading up to it, and never regret it afterwards, but don't ever use that as a catalyst for change.

19. I see beauty in things all around me.

20. My parents don't want to live in CT anymore because of the cost of living but are waiting for me to move out so they can follow. They bring home house magazines from every state they visit and tell me all about how great other places are. Why is it up to me? I feel a bit overwhelmed, like I'm treading water and my arms are getting tired.

IowaMan 05-08-2007 06:37 AM

I'll just try to pick up where I left off before.

13. I'll be taking a trip to California in just over a month to see my parents. Haven't seen them since July of 2003 and I can't wait. And I also cannot explain how excited I am about where I'm going when I leave my folks' place.

14. Three weeks or so ago I was having nightmares about my dead father. Hadn't really thought about him in years. I decided that I needed some closure so I went and visited his grave. It didn't go as I expected........ I wasn't as angry as I thought I'd be. The nightmares stopped though.

15. Kept this one pretty much to myself but about two months ago I made perhaps the biggest decision in my life. I was offered the opportunity to undergo a lung transplant. It's something I had wondered about for much of my life. It isn't a cure for cystic fibrosis but it could possibly make my quality of life better. Well, I wrestled with it for about a month before finally seeking the help of a friend. To be honest, I always thought my mind was made up as to what I would do if ever the opportunity presented itself but when it finally did, I was sort of lost. The trip to the hospital to give the doctors my decision was only about an hour drive but it felt as if it lasted for about a week. I honestly didn't know what my answer to them would be until I set foot in the hospital that morning.

My mind flashed to just one sentence from what must have been about two hours of discussion on the phone with my friend and something they said made it easy for me to come to my decision. I won't go any further into it because it is pretty personal but I did turn down the transplant. And I'm very happy with my decision, it was the correct one to make. I have no regrets about it.

Thank you so very much to that friend, I am very much at ease with my life right now.

Fifteen seems to be a nice place to stop, don't ya think? :p

And Soda........ ((((((((((((((Soda))))))))))))))))

scotzoidman 05-08-2007 12:47 PM

1. I just read thru this thread for the first time...& having a hard time believing I didn't look in on this before, or that my fellow pixies could be so open about themselves. (I think I may have missed this before because it appears to have started when I had to take a "sabbatical" from Pixies due to major life crisis...more on that below, maybe)
2. I lost my only brother & both parents within a 6-year period (1992-1998)...all of them to some form of heart disease.
3. Almost 5 years after my mother died, I discovered I wasn't the only one left after all...my half-sister called me, revealing that my mother had her at 17 & gave her up for adoption. She was happy with her life with her adopted family, but was just overwhelmed with curiousity to know more about her biological family. We discovered together that we all may be more about our genes than people want to believe, she is in many ways more like the mother she never met, physically & emotionally as well. Me, I still have a few issues that Mama shared many things I didn't know about her during her final years, but never saw fit to let me in on her darkest secret (that she had to know might come back later)...to say I was gobsmacked at this revelation doesn't even begin to cover it...
4. As a child, I was redheaded with freckles & was chubby & non-atheletic, & was teased mercilessly about it...having an Irish short fuse probably means I gave them the reaction they wanted, & compounded the situation. To this day, I detest bullying in any form. Which sort of brings me to...
5. I have always had a hard time watching movies or TV shows where people are helplessly bullied...I get really angry inside, my BP goes sky high, & sometimes I have to leave the room to avoid lashing out at someone I shouldn't.
6. My brother was 7 years older than I, I knew I was an "accident" early on...my mother confessed that my brother was such a handful, they really didn't plan to do it again, but that I was never unloved because of it, & I do believe I had a loving (if somewhat dysfuntional) upbringing. With all that, you might think I try to avoid spacing my own children at such a wide interval; you would be wrong ;)
7. In 2003, I was diagnosed with diabetes after developing a painful urinary tract infection that wouldn't go away on its own. A few months later I lost my last job (I admit I knew my career track was coming to an end anyway). Shortly after that, I developed severe back problems, eventually leading me to apply for SS disability, which finally started paying around Aug. last year. At year's end, I felt compelled to let my family know that I appreciated having them there thru that year in Hell.
8. Maybe a more postive note, I developed a love of music at a very early age (thanks to that older brother, who turned me on to R&B and Rock before I was even a kindergardener)...my ambition was be a rock star someday, of course it didn't happen, but I still play with a band of other old farts like myself, & still get that buzz when we do play in front of a crowd, kinda like jumping into the bath with a plugged-in toaster...
9. My father's 47th birthday was exactly one week before I was born.
10. After my mother died, I found their marriage certificate, which revealed that she was pregnant with my brother when they got hitched...hmm, Im beginning to see a pattern here ;)

Eastern 05-08-2007 12:52 PM

(((scotzoidman)))))

scotzoidman 05-09-2007 01:01 AM

Looking at my list now, I hope I didn't come off as whining about things, but everybody else had opened up so completely I felt compelled to do as much. These are only the first 10 facts about myself that maybe go a long way toward explaining how I came to be what I am at this moment...and I actually feel a lot better about myself these days, than I did just a couple of years back...

Then again, if I can cop a few more hugs from Eastern out of the deal, maybe a little whining isn't such a bad thing after all ;)

IowaMan 05-09-2007 05:47 AM

Whining? Oh Scotz, I don't think you need to worry about that my friend. Just getting some things out in the open, it didn't come off as whining.

I'd hug you too but .......... hey, stop it! Don't get handsy with me!

cherrypie7788 05-09-2007 12:48 PM

1.) I recently converted to Roman Catholicism

2.) I have never had a relationship with a man my age. They have all been older. Analyze what you will, but I do not find men my age as attractive as I do a man in his mid to late 30s.

3.) I am a movie buff. I have dozens of DVDs and a new big screen to watch them on.

4.) My cat always sleeps with me. Even when my man is home..He just sleeps on my side of the bed then.

5.) Pink is my favorite color

6.) I have always been a confrontational person. I have a general bad attitude and sometimes I use it when I shouldn't, but I don't get into many physical altercations with people. Not anymore. I've outgrown it.

7.) I love golf. I got my first clubs when I was 10 years old. I just got a snazzy new PINK burberry golf bag. We are members of the golf and country club here and sometimes during the day I go with my cousin's girlfriend to play.

8.) I used to suffer from an eating disorder (anorexia/bulimia). I still have to stay away from triggering people and events or I will get the urge to starve myself "thin" again. The only thing about that is with anorexia there is no "thin enough". There is only dead.

9.) I love photography. I got some swamp pics last weekend. I would love to make that my new occupation.

10.) I am an LPN though I am not currently employed. I have started working on becoming an RN but not currently in school.

Shadozfire 05-13-2007 01:50 AM

Dang==HUGS ALL PIXIES!
1) Not too big (but it is actually big) of a secret if you have read our posts--Seen Aqua naked in person and I refuse to kiss and tell.
2)Another not so big of a secret--I want DP with two guys! The two toys or the toy and a guy is not enough. But I have my requirements....the kissing between me and each of the men must be breathtaking....no kissing between the guys please!
3) Should all of these be sexual? If so...would love to play dress up.....any volunteers for "there can be only one"? I am a sucker for accents. OH I can do quite a few myself.
4) I have bought toys over the internet and they told me they were discreet....they were until I saw my credit card bill that said...www.therabbitvibrator.com...not so discreet in my book.
5) My first visit to a "toy" store involved two coast guard men literally carrying me into the store and barricading the store until I had looked at every single item and at 19 I wanted to run out red faced!
6) My most hilarious toy store moment=--was in a huge toy store and you know how you see the "Gladiator, Hercules, Adonis", etc...well there was this huge wall of dildoes and vibrators that was like 15 feet high and an ungodly amount of feet wide--I got to the end of the line and saw this one -- I was laughing so damn hard that everyone in the store had to come over--It was called the "asian" and was as big around as my pinky! NO joke! Sorry if that offends other pixies, but in hindsight I wish I had bought it as a conversation piece!
7) Went to a "toy store" recently and would love to receive many of them as gifts.
8) I recently had sex after 4 years and nine months of abstinence....he is willing to do the pics of him in my ass and of the various toys and him....can't wait to see if he lives up to that!
9) And yes he has seen the pics...he saw them before he saw me naked.
10) I am insatiable and need to cum at least ???? how many times a day???

9. I am secretly very self conscious and unsure of my self.

10. I have Trypanophobia (Fear of Injections) due to an over zealous Pediatrician who thought that a penicillin shot was the cure to every childhood illness. Interesting note: I am now allergic to Penicillin.

1. I'm an incredible cook.

10. I am color blind.

scotzoidman 05-24-2007 02:42 AM

And maybe some not so heavy little known facts about myself;
11. I play (in order of my competence) bass, guitar, keyboards, flute, played the trumpet back in 5th-6th grade but I wouldn't want to try to play it again if there was anybody within earshot...but I have a totally white sense of rhythm when confronted with drums or other percussion instruments...oh yeh, I sing a bit...
12. Speaking of which, I once surprised other band members (& myself a little) with a dead-on Gregg Allman impression...the song was "Statesboro Blues", if anyone cares...
13. I've always done well in artistic pursuits with my hands, at one time or another I could draw with pencil and/or ink, carve elaborate designs in leather, even did some interesting sculpture once, & I still do some very nice woodcrafts (don't take my word for it, ask a few Pixie ladies who own some of my work)...but my handwriting is so bad, my 10th grade English teacher strongly suggested I give up cursive for manuscript.
14. Never officially diagnosed, but I have some dyslexic tendancies...mostly things like turning "B"s into "D"s, and "P"s into "R"s...not sure why that is...
15. My IQ has been tested at 129 & later at 176...not sure if I should tell that, seeing as how some might say I'm pretty smart to be such a dumbass...

I'll leave it at 15 for now...this is not as easy as it looks...

FlirtWithMe 11-05-2008 02:18 AM

Reading this thread has made me both happy and sad... It's interesting to see what other people have been through and it felt only right that I share a little also :)

One
I know many people but have only a handful of real-life friends. I have always been somewhat of a loner and I am happy spending time in my own company but would go to the ends of the earth for the few people I am lucky enough to have as true friends

Two
I don't believe in god. I never lost my way or fell off any type of religious path, I just don't believe, and I'm happy with that

Three
I resent my mother for not being more supportive during two of the biggest issues I've ever had to deal . She does not know I resent her

Four
I have been pregnant three times and have two children. It took me years to get through the loss of my first and I rationalize it now by telling myself that had the first been born, the children I have would not be here

Five
I haven't been intimate with anyone since my son was born. I no longer count his age in months so it's been quite a while and now I'm scared that if anyone shows me any physical affection, I'll push them away as I am not used to being touched by anyone other than myself

Six
I recently came through an extremely dark period of postpartum depression. It cleared so suddenly it was like someone had turned on the light. Sometimes I wish they'd used a higher wattage bulb

Seven
I would love to spend a day with David Attenborough

Eight
I have been a yo-yo dieter for nearly 20 years and have an unhealthy relationship with food

Nine
I have been breast-feeding, pregnant or doing both together since 2003

Ten
I am painfully shy but in recent years have forced myself to be more assertive and I am able to put on a confident front when I meet new people. I am usually going to pieces inside

Eleven
I love reading erotica, watching porn and, with the right people, talking about it, finding out what makes other people tick, exploring new ideas, trying to discover my own limits of what I'd consider appealing or not. Pixies is a safe place to do that for the time being, although I will hopefully find someone IRL to share and discover with at some point in the future

Twelve
I procrastinate a lot

Oops that was more than ten :p

pinkFlames 11-05-2008 07:48 AM

Ten things about me.

1. I have never ridden a bicycle and don't intend to.

2. I have never learnt to swim.

3. I have social anxiety and panic if people watch me do almost anything.
