Someone to Watch Over Me
(Gershwin) There's a saying old says that love is blind Still we're often told "seek and ye shall find" So I'm going to seek a certain girl I've had in mind Looking everywhere, haven't found her yet She's the big affair I cannot forget Only girl I ever think of will regret I'd like to add her initial to my monogram Tell me where's the shepherd for this lost lamb There's a somebody I'm longing to see I hope that she turns out to be Someone who'll watch over me I'm a little lamb who's lost in a wood I know I could always be good To one who'll watch over me Although she may not the girl some men think of As handsome to my heart She carries the key Won't you tell her please to put on some speed Follow my lead, oh how I need Someone to watch over me Someone to watch over me |

Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay. Some say a comet will fall from the sky. Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves. Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still. Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits. Some say the end is near. Some say we'll see armageddon soon. Tool - Third Eye
Dreaming of that face again. It's bright and blue and shimmering. Grinning wide And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes. On my back and tumbling Down that hole and back again Rising up And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye. In... Out... In... Out... In... Out... A child's rhyme stuck in my head. It said that life is but a dream. I've spent so many years in question to find I've known this all along. "So good to see you. I've missed you so much. So glad it's over. I've missed you so much Came out to watch you play. Why are you running?" Shroud-ing all the ground around me Is this holy crow above me. Black as holes within a memory And blue as our new second sun. I stick my hand into his shadow To pull the pieces from the sand. Which I attempt to reassemble To see just who I might have been. I do not recognize the vessel, But the eyes seem so familiar. Like phosphorescent desert buttons Singing one familiar song... "So good to see you. I've missed you so much. So glad it's over. I've missed you so much. Came out to watch you play. Why are you running away?" Prying open my third eye. So good to see you once again. I thought that you were hiding. And you thought that I had run away. Chasing the tail of dogma. I opened my eye and there we were. So good to see you once again I thought that you were hiding from me. And you thought that I had run away. Chasing a trail of smoke and reason. Prying open my third eye. |
You Make Me Feel Brand New
The Stylistics My love, I'll never find the words my love, to tell you how I feel my love. Mere words, could not explain. Precious love, You held my life within your hands, created everything I am, tought me how to live again. Only you, came when I needed a friend, believed in me through thick and thin, this song is for you, filled with graditude and love... (Chorus) God bless you, you make me feel brand new, for God bless me with you, you make me feel brand new, I sing this song 'cause you, make me feel brand new. My love, When ever I was insecure, you built me up and made me sure, you gave, my pride, back to me. Precious friend, with you I'll always have a friend, your someone who I can depend, to walk a path that sometimes bends. Without you, Life has no meaning or rhyme, like notes to a song out of time, how can I repay, you'll find heaven, faith and me... (Chorus) God bless you, you make me feel brand new, for God bless me with you, you make me feel brand new, I sing this song for you |
The Beatles: In My Life
There are places I'll remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more In my life I love you more |
a pox on progress
Muhlenberg County ~ John Prine
When I was a child my family would travel Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born And there's a backwards old town that's often remembered So many times that my memories are worn. Chorus: And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away Well, sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River To the abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols But empty pop bottles was all we would kill. Repeat Chorus: Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man. Repeat Chorus: When I die let my ashes float down the Green River Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin' Just five miles away from wherever I am. Repeat Chorus: |
Everything~ Alanis Morissette
I can be an asshole of the grandest kind I can withold like it's going out of style I can be the moodiest baby And you've never met anyone As negative as I am sometimes I am the wisest woman you've ever met I'm the kindest soul with whom you've connected I have the bravest heart that you've ever seen And you've never met anyone As positive as I am sometimes You see everything You see every part You see all my light And you love my dark You dig everything Of which I'm ashamed There's not anything to which you can't relate And you're still here I blame everyone else, not my own partaking My passive agressiveness can be devistating I'm terrified and mistrusting And you've never met anyone who's closed down as I am sometimes You see everything You see every part You see all my light And you love my dark You dig everything Of which I'm ashamed There's not anything to which you can't relate And you're still here What I resist, persists, and speaks louder than I know What I resist, you love, no matter how low or high I go I am the funniest woman that you've ever known I am the dullest woman that you've ever known I am the most gorgeous woman that you've ever known And you've never met anyone as everything as I am sometimes You see everything You see every part You see all my light And you love my dark You dig everything Of which I'm ashamed There's not anything to which you can't relate And you're still here And you're still here And you're still here |
Took a ride on the way back machine
and look what I found:
Uneasy Rider ~ Charlie Daniels Band I was taking a trip out to L.A., Toolin' along in mah Chevrolet, Tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio. Just as I crossed the Mississippi line, I heard that highway start to whine, And I knew that left-rear tire was about to go. Well the spare was flat, and I got uptight, 'Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight, So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim. I went as far as I could, and when I stopped the car, It was right in front of this little bar, A kind of a redneck looking joint, called the "Dew Drop Inn." Well I stuffed my hair up under my hat, And told the bartender that I had a flat, And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one? Well there was one thing I was sure proud to see, There wasn't a soul in the place 'cept for him and me, And he just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone. I called up a station down the road aways, And he said he wasn't very busy today, And he could have somebody there in just about ten minutes or so. He said, "Now you just stay right where you're at." And I didn't bother to tell the darned fool that I sure as Hell didn't have anyplace else to go. I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar, When some guy walked in and said, "Who owns this car, With the peace sign, and the mag-wheels, and four-on-the-floor?" Well he looked at me and I damn near died, And I decided that I'd just wait outside, So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door. Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin, These five big dudes come stollin' in, With this one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth. And I was almost to the door when the biggest one Said, "You tip your hat to this lady son!" And when I did, all that hair fell out from underneath. Now the last thing I wanted was to get in a fight In Jackson, Mississippi on a Saturday night, 'Specially when there was three of them and only one of me. But they all started laughing, and I felt kind o' sick, And I knew I better think of something pretty quick, So I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee. Now he let out a yell that would curl your hair, But before he could move I grabbed me a chair, And said, "Watch him folk, 'cause he's a thoroughly dangerous man. Well, you may not know it, but this man's a spy. He's a undercover agent for the FBI, And he's been sent out here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan." He was still bent over, holdin' on to his knee, But everybody else was looking' and listenin' to me, And I laid it on thicker and heavier as I went. I said, "Would you believe this man has gone as far As tearing `Wallace' stickers off the bumpers o' cars, And he voted for George McGovern for President." "Well, he's a friend of them long-haired, hippy-type, pinko fags, I betcha he's even got a Commie flag, Tacked up on the wall inside o' his garage. He's a snake in the grass, I tell ya guys, He may look dumb, but that's just a disguise, He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage." They all started lookin' real suspicious at him, And he jumped up and said, "Now just wait a minute, Jim, You know he's lying, I've been living here all of my life. I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch, And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church, And I ain't even got a garage, you can call home and ask my wife." Then he started saying something 'bout the way I was dressed, But I didn't wait around to hear the rest, I was too busy moving, and hoping I didn't run outta luck. And when I hit the ground, I was making tracks, And they were just takin' my car down off the jacks, And I threw the men a twenty, and jumped in and fired that mother up. Mario Andretti would a' sure been proud, Of the way I was movin' when I passed that crowd, Comin' out the door, and headed toward me in a trot. And I guess I should o' gone ahead and run, But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun, Of chasing them all, just once, around the parking lot. Well, they headed for their car, but I hit the gas And spun around and headed them off at the pass. I was slingin' gravel and puttin' a ton o' dust in the air. Well I had 'em all out there, steppin' and fetchin' Like their heads were on fire and their asses was catchin', But I figured I better go ahead and split before the cops got there. Well, when I hit the road, I was really wheelin', Had gravel flying and rubber squealing, And I didn't slow down 'til I was almost to Arkansas. Well, I think I'm gonna re-route my trip, I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped, If I went to L.A., via Omaha. |

I LOVE THE NIGHT - Blue Oyster Cult
That night her kiss told me it was over I walked out late into the dark The misty gloom seems to soak up my sorrow The further I went on I felt a spreading calm Then suddenly my eyes were bathed in light And the lovely lady in white was by my side She said like me I see you’re walking alone Won’t you please stay? I couldn’t look away She said I love the night The day is ok and the sun can be fun but I live To see those rays slip away I love the night There’s so much I can show and give to you If you will welcome me tonight If only you had been there my dear We could have shared this together No mortal was meant to know such wonder One look in the mirror told me so Come darkness I’ll see her again Yes I’m gonna go ’cause now I know I love the night The day is ok and the sun can be fun but I live To see those rays slip away I love the night I love the night I love the night |
