What is the longest you ever had the same pet and what was it?

(knocks on wood for luck) I've had Solon for almost nine years now. He's a wonderful old Lab and I see him aging now. We also looked after an old Springer Spaniel every summer when his family went to Ireland. Him and I were very attached and he was put to sleep when I was 14. I guess they had him since I could remember - I was three or four. When they made the appointment in the fall, his owners had to come get him from me. Him and I went everywhere together. I even wrote a song when he died. Sure, it was to the tune of "St. Elmos' Fire" but the thought was there!

What is the longest you ever had the same pet and what was it?

Probably our cat, Pokey. His mommy brought him to us when he was a baby (that's the truth ... she stayed for a few weeks, then left with Pokey still with us). We had him about seven years before he died. Still miss the little guy. :(

What color is the siding on your home?

pink right now...but the owner just had someone come measure the house so I don't know what it will be next.

Do you have a large backyard?

No, not really. It's big enough, though, and has a huge maple tree shading most of it and the back enclosed porch/dining room.

Did you like high school?

Actually, I did. It was fun being a geek. I was in choir and theater. Really did enjoy it, but wouldn't go back.

Did you go to college?

I'm a lifelong student. Started out in engineering school, switched to a major in history to teach high school, was accepted to law school, didn't go...in California I went to court reporting school, in Iowa I worked towards a degree in elementary education.

One day I'll know what I want to be when I grow up. ;)
