I think two is the most I was ever gone from work on vacation at one time. But would I have, yeah. I think I would. Of course, now, that's not an issue. :D

I have done that twice due to my job and didn't enjoy it at all. A year for the first time when I was stationed in Korea and then for 6 months the last time traveling for my present job

I'm probably way too practical to spring something like that on someone, unless it was a weekend trip. I'd be much too afraid of the contingencies.
