Breast Reduction

Has anyone here had one done...

If so...i'm really interested in hearing you take on how it went....what was involved....and if your happy with the results

Thanx

kleclere 12-29-2002 06:03 PM

I'm sorry to hear you are thinking of reduction. Is it for medical reasons? Sorry for being nosey.

Sharni 12-29-2002 06:06 PM

Thats cool...i don't mind answering :)

Yes it is for medical reasons

Lilith 12-29-2002 06:10 PM

Sharni I had a friend who had one. She was young, 21. When she became pregnant they returned to their previous size and remained large again. Her scars were pretty visible ( complete circles around her areaolas with a line going down then a semi circle surrounding the bottom half of the entire breast) and the pain was pretty intense for a bit. I think she is still glad she had them done.......She fears how large they would have grown after pregnancy if she had not had the surgery.

kleclere 12-29-2002 06:14 PM

Thank you for not being mad for the question. I know that for women with large breasts the strain on their backs is very bad. Have a neighbor who had it done to relieve back troubles. She had a little pain but her back troubles are gone. I know it well be fine.

RandyGal 12-29-2002 06:55 PM

Um...have you seen my breast photos?

:D

Dem's shrunken boobs via surgery. :)

Had it done a number of years ago...

Sharni 12-29-2002 07:02 PM

Yep i've seen em :fly:

I remember you mentioning elsewhere that there was reduced sensitivity...Was it extremely noticable?

RandyGal 12-29-2002 07:12 PM

Not extremely noticable, no.

It varies per woman though.

AND it can vary per breast. My right nipple is my FUN nipple. :p
My left nipple is a bit less responsive...and time also is a factor.
After many years, I still seem to be re-developing sensation in my breasts.

Also the type of surgery can make a big difference. In one kind the nipple is actually REMOVED and grafted back on, and the other surgery all the blood flow is retained in the nipple and much more sensitivity remains. I had the latter.

It was well worth it but after a period of many years, you will still have the *shadows* from where your breasts used to hang (kind of fun to see how LOW they went LOL)
and you'll have a chest wall that is accustomed muscle-wise to HOLDING those breasts...so there can be a funny ridge.
I can try to take a photo for you if you'd like, so you can see what I mean.

Sharni 12-29-2002 07:17 PM

A pic would be great thanx....

I'm sure it will be worth it just to not have to carry them around....they're so heavy

RandyGal 12-29-2002 07:24 PM

I understand.

I had 2 + pounds removed from each side. That would be 4 one pound cartons of butter strapped to my upper chest on a daily basis...just thinking about it wears me out.

The doctor was wonderful as far as screening me to have it done. He had me talk to a psychologist before he'd schedule the reduction so he could see if I had unrealistic expectations about what I was hoping for....

one of the questions was how much did I think this would change my life....in different areas.
I THOUGHT my answers were gonna be my un-doing because I wasn't looking for life-altering miracles. I just wanted a bit more comfort AND to be able to buy/wear a regular shirt..

apparently having low expectations can be a good thing sometimes LOL LOL.

I will try later tonite for a photo so you can see what I mean.

Sharni 12-29-2002 07:30 PM

LOL

I want the weight gone and to be able to go into the store and buy one of them pretty frilly frivolous things....rather than my industrial strength boulder holders :D

Thanx i appreciate that RG

dicksbro 12-29-2002 07:31 PM

I know a lady who I used to work with that had breast reduction surgery and all went well for her. Don't know when or even for sure if you will go ahead, but if you do, you know you have the prayers of my wife and I that everything will work out wonderfully for you.

Hugs ...

Dicksbro

kleclere 12-29-2002 07:32 PM

And as long as you are comfortable with the decision and the benefits to you. I cheer both of you.

RandyGal 12-29-2002 07:42 PM

:D

I'm pretty happy with the results...it's kind of fun to have 'em PERKY after all these years. I rarely even bother with a bra any more Sharniqua, but yes, you'll certainly have many more options after surgery.

Feels good to just let 'em flop in the wind! LOL

Sharni 12-29-2002 07:49 PM

Perky....whats that?? LOL

Flopping in the wind at present is not a good look....LMAO and dangerous to ones health...they could come back and deck ya :D

Lilith 12-29-2002 08:05 PM

*stamps feet* I want perky too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DildoDiva 12-29-2002 09:14 PM

I have wanted to have a reduction for a long time too. Unfortunately, hubby won't even consider it for me. :( He says excersize will make them perky....um....yeah right.

Sharni 12-30-2002 01:27 AM

Excercise has absolutely no hope of making my boobs perky *LOL*

Bilbo is cool with it....after all he sees me fighting with the bloody things everyday :D

lizH 12-30-2002 04:03 AM

I'd like to see these guys telling us women significantly above a D cup that "exercise will make 'em perky" try to get through a day with about 10-15 lbs attached to the front of their chest!

I *can* flip my DD-DDD's using my back and chest muscles, and it's supposedly pretty sexy... but I don't do it often because it's more *work* than chest pressing 200 lbs! We won't mention that it takes a heck of a lot more coordination.

Grumble 12-30-2002 04:18 AM

good luck whatever you decide Sharni, It could be a good thing for you health plus reducing the chance of a black eye whilst jogging LOL.

Take care my friend

Sharni 12-30-2002 04:59 AM

I don't do jogging!!

But i do enjoy horse riding and ya can get black eyes from that too.....*LOL*

Bilbo 12-30-2002 05:54 AM

Would love to see Sharni's boobs back to perky :fly:

I will offer all the support that I can

But ultimately it has to be her decision

vampeyes 12-30-2002 11:50 AM

my humble advice - just be very careful of who you decide to have do the surgery.. check them out very thoroughly and make sure they know what they are doing. I know 2 people that had a reduction - one a friend who's reduction was wonderful in fact it gave her a whole new outlook on life when she went down to a C cup from a breast size that I am not even sure that there is a measurement for her breasts were so large that it made her look overweight when in fact she wasn't it was just her breasts. The other though my sister in law had an F cup and she had a reduction where they remove the nipples and also make inscisions in the side and under the breast it was a very bad job and thats putting it mildly! She is very uneven with very bad scarring but the worst part is that on one breast it doesn't look like she has a nipple at all and the other it is placed wrong... she has no sensitivity at all in her nipples (if you can even call them that now) and her breasts are not very sensitive either. Her problem though was she had a bad surgeon.. Just be careful and best of luck!

RandyGal 12-30-2002 11:51 AM

One of the problems I had when mine were bigger was...

now please don't LAUGH...and remember, I have a tendency to be a bit clumsy anyway.......

If I moved just right, my breasts would make me go weird directions. OK, hard to explain here.....
if I were moving ONE direction, and I quickly changed direction, SOMETIMES my boobs didn't get the message immediately and they'd still be going the original direction, throwing me off balance many times! LOL

I did take pictures but you can just see the scars, can't see that ridge I mentioned.

As far as scars go I was ALWAYS a Frankenstein fan anyway, so I thought it looked cool! LOL LOL

dm383 12-31-2002 05:44 PM

A few years ago, I worked with a girl who was a 52GG ..... but a size 12-14 (UK) everywhere else.

She had to take a few days off every month, when having her period, cos they got even bigger & heavier. Eventually she had a reduction (to 44EE) and even though they were still pretty big by most standards, she was extremely happy!

As some of the ladies have already said, it's important to check out the surgeon... K**** did, and the 1st guy she was going to go to turned out to be a real butcher..... found someone else to do it, and was pretty much healed in about 2-3 months. (Dunno if that is good or bad, but it seemed fairly quick to me!) Had the pre-op counselling too - and ALL on the National Health!!

Wishing you a more comfortable New Year..........

DM

Lilith 01-01-2003 08:26 AM

Not sure what the laws are in OZ but I think part of the trouble is that in US Drs. can perform operations that they are not truly qualified for. I am sure you can find a surgeon who specializes in reduction and reconstruction.

quisath 01-01-2003 11:33 AM

You do what you think will help you the Most Hon and Bilbo's a great Guy to support your decisions. I hope the Best for you.

LixyChick 01-01-2003 08:06 PM

Because of back trouble for many years, a doctor had suggested that I consider a reduction. I thought about it for a while and decided against it. Personal reasons......not because I wouldn't ever have the surgery! I still to this day have plenty of back problems but I still have opted against the surgery. It's not completely out of the question but I am trying other things to relieve my back problems before I go the mile.

I am not as large as some woman who have gone before me but my stature is such that I really shouldn't be supporting this size breast. Weight loss NEVER changes my breast size. So that is one thing off my list of things to do.

I do, however, have one piece of advice for you Shar. Plastic surgeons, at times, can be very self indulgent. What I mean to say is that they are very prideful of their work and will boast their best stuff to you. What you have to do is some old fashioned "homework". If you can find several patients of any one particular surgeon to give him/her high cudos......you have a better chance than to go by his/her word alone! Check out "his/her" history. Find all the good AND the bad. No one is perfect......not even a surgeon! If he/she takes offense at your "snooping", then may I suggest that they have something of significance to hide!!!!!!

Best of luck to you in any decision you make hun! You know you'll have lots of support (no pun intended) from this group!

*hugs*

Nuelaan 01-04-2003 04:13 AM

Ok now I no this is going to sound odd, I have had a breast reduction. I guess it is semi common for men to develop breast tissue, mine got kind of out of control. I had gotten almost to what would be a small A cup when my doctor decided they had quit growing and could be removed. I colloid (scar) real bad, and mine was not done cosmetically so I have to scars under each nipple. The surgy was short, I was in very little pain afterwords, though I did get a bit of an infection, so I had to go every 4 days to get fluid drained. As a man I didn't have to worry about anything like never being able to breast feed or whatever, so less risk in my case. My sister, boobs are a family trait, is getting ready to have a reduction (do to Back Problems). God luck whatever you decide.

Omniblade 01-04-2003 11:12 PM

lol once again I'm surfing the topics trying to become more involved with the forums

I have to say I'm against breast reduction, although there are defintly expections to every situation, just in general I'm against it, of coures I generally dislike breast enlargement as well, nothing wrong with it I'd say just I think it's better to just leave things the way they are

I suppose thats kinda narrowsighted though isn't it, like I said there are of coures exceptions to every situation, I guess I would just perfer my hon to be all natural,

but hey if you really feel it's necessary then go ahead, I'm not posting this to make anyone feel bad or anything , nor would I not go out with someone just because they had it done, just stateing my thoughts in as generically unoffensive way as possible lol

Sharni 01-05-2003 12:27 AM

Quote:
generically unoffensive way as possible lol

Did a pretty good job of it too *LOL*

Can i just add though....i can assure you that most women would not go through with this if it wasn't a health issue...breast reduction is after all major surgery...

I prefer natural too....but tell ya what i'll give my boobs to carry around for a while and see if you want to carry them for all time :D:D they weigh heaps and they get in the way..

I can assure you if my breasts didn't aggrevate my health issues...i would put up with them

The though of my boobs being sliced...poked...prodded....rearranged and then sewn back together...puts the wind up me big time...i am in no way looking forward to the discomfort and pain associated with this procedure....but too me it will be worth it in the long run

El Macho 01-05-2003 12:56 AM

I hope that my input is okay seeing as I'm still pretty new here...

The health issue alone is reason enough to do what you have to do. I've been under similar circumstances before, and have a pretty big scar as proof. Knowing that the procedure is important for long term health unfortunately doesn't diminish the frear and uncertainty that the prospect of surgery brings.

I wish you the best with this, and it sounds like you are looking at it the right way - and that is the best way to move forward!

kleclere 01-06-2003 07:48 PM

Like I said earlier you should have to justify it to others. Health is more important than peoples opinion. I say it again I applaud all of you for which ever decision you all take. Just my 2 cents

kleclere 01-06-2003 07:49 PM

Please forgive it should say "SHOULDN'T" darned fingers anyway. Thanks

incitatus 01-06-2003 08:29 PM

Hi Sharni,
A couple of quick points:
Has your doctor recommended any counselling regarding this?
(Assuming, of course, that you've gotten to that point in your deliberations)

Be sure and get as many (professional) opinions as possible (and practical).

Perhaps it would be best if you could find a woman surgeon to perform the operation. A woman would probably be more aware and sensitive to technical issues (i.e. nipple sensitivity, etc) and your physical comfort.

Just MY 2 cents worth...

Sharni 01-06-2003 08:51 PM

Male or female makes no difference to me

The surgeon I have chosen is highly regarded for doing excellent work...my family doctor recommended the surgeon, I trust my doc and feel he would not steer me into wrong hands.

Thanx everyone for your concern on this matter *hugz*

I still am interested in hearing from ppl who have gone through this procedure..

Angel_25 01-08-2003 05:52 AM

OMG - well i am sooooooo happy i have found pixies, becos of
seeing sharns messages etc, i know what u r going thru
sharn- i am on a waiting list here in NZ for breast reduction surgery- and im sorry to say but i couldnt give a fuck what men think! as far as im concerned it comes down to the individual and whether they are happy in life- i know that in my life i am so restricted in the things i can do and used to love doing(running, playing pool, golf yada yada) yes ok suposedly men love big tits but in reality who cares!! it is 'Our' bodys that go thru the pain of carrying xtra weight that disallows more fun activites and im talking non sexual things- yes there is fun out side the bedroom lol, anyway i am also keen to hear of any stories, and i guess im willing to have scars so as i can go onto have a normal fun life with my partner, where going for a walk(for example- yeah ok bit boring for pixies lol) might sound boring for some, but can be a fun uh hem ;) time for others that cant be enjoyed as freely as women who are more 'normal sized'.... and yes i do have a partner who unbelivebly loves me for who i am (big hooters ! but would just be happy to see me happy- am i lucky or what...:))

xanne 01-08-2003 09:36 AM

Sharni, it's a big step (no pun intended) but I would encourage you to do it for yourself, to be able to later do the things you wanted. I don't know what it feels like to be on the "other side" cos I also wanted to be bigger myself :o and even once considered a boob job (but waayyy to chicken). Hope it all goes well for you hun ((hugs))

And I have to agree Sharn, that is one hell of a scrumptious elf (yummm) Sign me up for that elf fetish! ;)

d5254t 01-08-2003 12:48 PM

I have had a reduction, I went from a 38 F to a 38 C and am extremley happy with my results, I wouldn't change a thing about it, except for the pain for the first few weeks.
I sympathize with the pain, it got unbearable after I had my daughter my breast size went up to a 42 I. I was so miserable from my breasts not being pregnant.

Sharni 11-20-2003 07:29 PM

Update:

Have just learnt that my Private health membership will cover breast reduction, provided it's done for medical reasons (mine will be) not purely cosmetic

So instead of costing me AU$5000 to get done it will cost me approx. AU$500

So now i'm starting on serious weight loss (they would be reluctant to do it at the weight i am)....once i'm at a more respectable weight i will be going for it!!

Will keep you updated as things progress

A big thanx to all who have added they're say in this thread *HUGZ*

Any new (or lurkers:D) members had experience with breast reduction?
