Cobalt and I went for a drive this afternoon. Wanted to see more of what Mother Nature dumped on us...

The pic here is of a farm field near our acreage....

Cheyanne 05-23-2004 05:09 PM

This isn't a pond...

The wind was picking up and causing waves to lap the edge of the field...

Cheyanne 05-23-2004 05:11 PM

No road here.... :(

The road is completely underwater...farm field next to it.

Our school district has an outdoor classroom. The land was donated and the committee just got done putting in a lot of new trees, a pond (stocked) and a parking area....

No driveway to this house - or at least you can't see it at the moment....

Cheyanne 05-23-2004 05:17 PM

Yeah, Lil....it is a mess! A lot of farmers are going to be replanting, not to mention the insurance claims!

We drove around a baracade to get this picture. I didn't get out of the car, but it looks as if the river is going to spill over the edge of the bridge and onto the road...

By the looks of the sky, we are going to get more rain. In fact, the weather dude is predicting another round of storms for tonight (not severe in our area) and possibly severe storms tomorrow night throug Tuesday...

osuche 05-23-2004 05:26 PM

how much rain did you get?

Sharni 05-23-2004 07:29 PM

Too much i'd say

Mother nature is a funny thing eh....your getting floods and parts of Oz are in severe drought

PantyFanatic 05-23-2004 07:36 PM

Something as basic as atmospheric conditions can be very humbling to a species who’s ego often exceeds his capabilities. lmao

Thanks for the photo updates Chy & Cobalt. It will be very interesting if you can go back to the same specific locations and take pictures of each scene later this summer for us. :D

We received 4.65 inches of rain. Further north of us received 6.41 inches. Doesn't seem like a lot, but when you add that much rain in so little time to already saturated ground, you end up with flooding. We are downstream from some of the heaviest areas and like shit  it all flows downhill..

That is a good idea! I know that the Outdoor Classroom Committee is going to be hard at work once the water goes away.

maddy 05-23-2004 08:21 PM

WOW! Stay safe, flowing water is no fun to contend with. I hear you on insurance claims, I used to live in the Midwest and work for an insurance company, we all braced ourselves everytime there was any sort of storm. Unfortunately mother nature can do some pretty powerful damage when she isn't in her full glory.

nikki1979 05-24-2004 02:57 AM

stay safe!!!! hope it all drys up soon for yall
