*~Let me gaze into my crystal ball~*

A friend of mine just sent me an email with this link:

Can you figure out the magic? :p

Aqua 02-03-2006 07:27 PM

Very clever. :p

IAKaraokeGirl 02-03-2006 07:28 PM

Uncanny. :D

Aqua 02-03-2006 07:34 PM

Where's the crystal ball that tells me which Pixies have wet panties? ;)

FallenAngel5 02-03-2006 09:10 PM

That may be an even easier algorithm that this one, Aqua. :)

dreamgurl 02-03-2006 10:01 PM

Aqua, I think the wet panties crystal ball is other wise known as PF's head.

I give, I can't figure it out! I did hit times that it was wrong though. But the majority were accurate.

imaginewithme 02-04-2006 12:08 AM

how the hell???????????????

moozilla_78 02-04-2006 01:08 AM

that is kinda freaky how it does it.

mayhem1978 02-04-2006 01:33 AM

thats pritty cool, i like it

moose 02-05-2006 08:21 AM

that remnds me of the old one where you think of a number from 1 to 25, double it, add 18, half it, take away the first number you thought of, and i bet you have 9

imaginewithme 02-05-2006 01:00 PM

Ok......how does it work!?!?!?!?

It's pretty much the same principal... and if you notice, the symbols aren't always on the same numbers.

maddy 02-06-2006 07:22 PM

Except it's not 100% accurate. I found that when I followed the directions more often than not it was accurate, but when I decided to just pick a symbol, it nearly was never right.

flutelady 02-06-2006 08:39 PM

I was doing it wrong at first and each time I clicked, it was wrong. I re-read the instructions and did it correctly over and over and each time it was right. I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but my pea brain doesn't know what it is... yet.

Galatea 02-06-2006 10:41 PM

This is how it works.

I was always the kid who had to figure out how the toys worked and then when I dissected it, it lost its magic. So anyway, I did it again here. Theres a diagonal pattern by 10's and that's cross referenced with the shapes corresponding with the numbers that are subtracted to give you your....you know what...if you want to see my graphs I made to figure it out, ask me. Otherwise I won't go into detail on ya. The graphs break it down better than I can explain it.

It's real quite simple any number you pick ends up as 0 or a multipiable of 9 and they all have the same symbol.

When you add the two digits together of any group of 10's you come up with the same number.

If you pick any number in the 80's will come up as 72 because even if you go up or down you adding or subtracting 1 to each side.

example
89 8+9=17 89-17=72
88 8+8=16 88-16=72
87 8+7=15 87-15=72
86 8+6=14 86-14=72
85 8+5=13 85-13=72
84 8+4=12 84-12=72
83 8+3=11 83-11=72
82 8+2=10 82-10=72
81 8+1=9 81-9=72
80 8+0=8 80-8=72
