Wtf???
Please read the following article and tell me what you think of it.
click here While I agree that it's not a comfortable topic for some...there's a quote in there that disturbs me greatly. |
*yawn*
I wouldn't buy the mag, the the cover is cool. Plus, it doesn't show the nipple. |
Which quote? A couple of them have me scratching my head.
|
Another reader said she was "horrified" when she received the magazine and hoped that her husband hadn't laid eyes on it.
"I had to rip off the cover since I didn't want it laying around the house," she said. |
Knowing you, I thought this might be it: ;)
"I was SHOCKED to see a giant breast on the cover of your magazine," It's a highly controversial topic for many people. What's maybe amazing to me is that it's taken so long to be THIS controversial. Is the U.S. in some kind of moral/Puritanical backswing? Are we "publicizing" this practice more than in the past? Are more mothers visible than in recent years? I dunno. |
I have more of a problem with her "protecting her husband from seeing the image" than I do with understanding the debate from both sides.
|
I agree. However, as someone said in the article, women all over TV and in other media are showing more than that on a regular basis. Will her husband leave her because he saw a woman feeding her baby? I'm sure he's never seen another breast besides his wife's.
|
Protecting her husband from seeing breasts? I guess she subscribes to the hole in the sheet option for sex?
Note to self....not everyone might agree with my philosophy...I sent my husband to a bachelor party at a strip club tonight....and I dug thru my purse for dollar bills so he'd have some for the fun. ;) But I sure hope he doesn't see breasts there !! :D |
Quote:
I saw that in a movie recently. How funny is it that I, as the movie viewer, saw more of the wife's nude body than he did? |
Quote:
it all disturbs me. what crap. disgusting? harumph. it's a baby being fed ferchristsake, not a sex act. get your priorities straight. and that mag had every idea what putting pictures of boobies on the cover would do. bunch of money hungry shock jocks, if ya ask me...which you did. :D |
Quote:
This is the quote that had me so mad. You can I'm sure go to a magazine stand right now and see women on the covers with much more breasts showing than what is on the cover of Baby Talk. It just amazes me that this country has no problem with nudity at all unless it's being used in the way God (or nature if you want) intended it. :rolleyes2 Oh and Osuche you are the coolest chicky. I once went with my ex to a strip club and gave him dollars for the girls that were working so hard to entertain us. |
The whole breastfeeding debate confuses me. WTF is the problem?
What'd be really funny is if it weren't really a breast but the side shot of someone's elbow or something. |
As a breastfeeding advocate, I'd much rather see that than a baby sucking on a bottle.
oh, I could go on for ages about it, just the ironic thing about Baby talk is that it is a free publication sponsored mostly by formula and bottle companies. Sadly, breastfeeding has been twisted into advertising for formula. tsk tsk |
That's too funny, trying to keep their husbands from seeing it.....how the heck did they get pregnant!? People need to get a grip.
I am proud of say I breastfed my baby for almost 7 months and I did it in privacy, even had to in ladies restrooms and women come in and look straight down at your boobs, even if they are covered. What's the big deal!?!?! That same guy she's hiding the mag from is probably on line lookin at porn and has playboy....idiot woman. Ok, I'm done now. |
Woo Hoo! Good job IWM!!! That makes me proud to hear it!
I breastfed both my kids, and will do for any future babies. It is the laws in many US states that a woman can breastfeed her child anywhere she is legally allowed to be, both public and private. |
Quote:
Aqua, I will not name names, but the formula / bottle / infant care companies are multi-billion dollar multi-national firms which spend hundreds of millions of dollars each year to persuade the public that bottle feeding is the preferred way to feed baby. The problem is even worse in Africa, (a “growth market” for these companies) where sources of water, which dry formula mixes require, are often not potable. Further, any residue left in the bottle provides a perfect growth medium for bacteria. This is one of the less laudable aspects of globalization. |
One of the most natural acts on Earth and people have a problem with it. Humans are so stupid sometimes!
|
What you all seem to be forgetting is that women don't actually have breasts until you perverts point out somehow that they do.
|
Oh, in case you missed it, that's a hint that the Pixies women shoudl take the opportunity to point out that they have breasts. :thumb:
|
rubbish. People so need to get over themselves.
|
I'm sure there is a burka in that womans size. :starwars:
|
I'll be honest, it flat pisses me off that such a big damn deal is being made over it. For medical reasons, I will not be able to breastfeed either of my children, and I'm not sure that I would if I could have, but I respect ANY woman's right to do the healthy and natural thing by her child anytime and any place that she chooses.
This is a big steaming pile of turd. |
I breast fed my youngest.
What I don't understand is why people get upset about it. The majority of women don't suddenly unbutton their shirts and flash boobies and stick a nipple into the infant's mouth for all to see! I fed my children while in a resturant, in a mall, walking down an isle in the grocery store, in the park, and none were the wiser (other than prolly other breastfeeding moms). I have had people stop and talk to me and they didn't know what I was doing. They just figured my daughter was sleeping. |
Yes, yes, yes...we all agree that breastfeeding is natural and not an act of eroticism.
We know that women that nurse don't just whip their tops off and sit in the middle of a crowded mall with their :boobs: hanging out. And we know that formula companies, who provide a product that has it's uses, do try to maximize their income by praising the debated benefits of their product over nursing. But the real story here is that lady who is mortified that her husband may see the cover...to the point of ripping the cover off! What's up with that? |
Quote:
I really feel sad for the guy that his wife is that paranoid. And, I feel sorry for her that she has so little regard for him. :( ... only the other hand, maybe it was hard for her to turn the pages when they get sticky. :rolleyes2 Sorry, the devil made me say that. ;) |
I did not^^^^ :D

WildIrish, She didn’t want that sick, twisted, lewd picture to ignite his animal passions? |

:yikes: :spank: Too Funny!!! |
Christ! I can't believe this has set off such a furore!
I think it's an absolutely beautiful picture of a beautiful baby and a beautiful breast. Do you think there's an element of jealousy in these prudish women's reponses to this picture? What is in the inside of these magazines? In Britain, our baby magazines are crammed with pictures of breast feeding women showing nipples as well and "shock horror" even vaginas (it's difficult to show pictures of childbirth without them). As for the outside covers, I've never noticed if a breast was on the front cover or not...if I'd seen this magazine on a newstand I wouldn't have even looked twice at it. It just wouldn't occur to me to be offended or embarrassed by it. |

Usually there's a lot of recipes. :p |
You know, WI, you'd scream if someone actually bit into that thing.
|
The priorities of some people is really so f****d up these days. With everything that is going on in the world, this is a topic to stop and write the editor about?
And I noticed that those who wrote were women so I think Loulabelle is on to something with the jealousy theory. |
Quote:
Oh ... you were talking about the magazine. :p I thought you were talking about WI's recipe. :( :roflmao: PS ... going to miss your AV while we're gone. :tear: |
