Vacation Plans
 

This stretch of winter weather we're having in this part of the country has given me a terrible case of cabin fever. Thoughts of Spring and Summer have been floating around in my mind seemingly forever. Just wondering does anybody have a vacation planned during the next six months or so?

I'm still trying to put the finishing touches on my plans (seems as if I've been trying to do that for a long time now) but hopefully I'll be on the road to California and/or Texas before I know it.

I'm planning a trip to Sunny San Diego and La Jolla in July. :nana: I cannot wait to see those palm trees! It'll be my first real vacation in 3 years!

I'm going to do cabin camping in 2 weeks in Savannah Ga. And a cruise to Mexico in June for my 20th wedding anniversary. I just bought my swimsuits 2 minutes ago online :D

We;re headed to Columbus, OH, in late May for my sister in law's wedding...but that doesn't really feel like much of a vacation - it'll be fun but hard work!

I guarantee you'll love it in San Diego.

Now that I think about it, I may see if I can get my mom to let me take her down there for a day or two if I get out to California. She tells me every year how she'd like to see a Cubs game with me and I see that they just happen to be playing the Padres (and the Dodgers) during the time I've got tentatively set to make the trip. Imagine that. ;)

Hmmmmm...we were gonna go to Key Largo in April but I think we've rethunk that trip. It would be with Mr. Lixy's boss and his wife. And not that they suck to be around...but it's his boss...arrggggggg!

Before Mr. Lixy got so high up in the company, and before the company started making millions of dollars a year, Mr. Lixy and his boss were great friends. We used to scuba dive together and investigated some pretty cool ship wrecks. Got some GIANT Jersey lobster...had great dock parties...etc.

Then we moved to the Keys. The boss enticed us back to Pa. with the statement, "Come back and start reaping the benefits of the company you helped start."

Now, the boss has a two houses (a Jersey shore house and his million dollar home near us) and he's looking for property in the Keys to build and has three BMW's and two BMW bikes and a Harley and a 2007 Toyota truck and a 2006 SUV for his wife and two vehicles for two of his three children and so on and so on and so on............

So...we were gonna fly to Key Largo and dive the boss's yacht (Oh...did I mention he has a yacht?) and get the barnacles off of the bottom and troll it up to central Florida and moor it till he can bring it back north safely (in spring). But we got to thinking...Who's "reaping the benefits" here???????????

Damnitalltohell! I wanna do the Keys again!

I guess my answer is Yes...um...NO...with a story to go with it!

That new Roller Coaster is at Cedar Point. Now all we need to do is to set a time.

This is going to be surprising, but we are planning a camping trip to Banff / Jasper this summer. Last summer my parents, two sisters and there families all went camping for 8 days. So this year we are looking at doing the same but extending it for 10 days.

Yes, 10 days gives you time to hide the bodies.

I'm hoping we'll be having our first family holiday to my Mum's house in France this Summer, but she and her ex-husband are still wrangling over it at present so we don't know if she'll actuslly own it by then!

Dunno yet, but it's getting to be time to plan before it's too late and the prices are outrageous.

I really need to get away.

A lot is riding on whether I can see my way clear to getting a new(er) minivan...Big Red is in its 10th year, with over 150K miles on the clock...the missus wants #2 son to finally see the gulf coast of Florida this year (where he was conceived 16 yrs ago) & we haven't been back since...what the budget will allow is still a crapshoot...

on the 7th I left the frigid cold of South Dakota and flew to Florida for 2 weeks,
went to the keys last week, near Canaveral right at this moment.....my flight back to south dakota is later today........................but I'm not going!
changed my plans and staying in Florida till the 28th!!!
I will be in Orlando for the next few weeks, hehe.

so I'm on my vacation trip right now and making it a longer vacation trip!

Lets see......first weekend in June hope to get kiddo back to her dad in SD for a month, then go back and get her after that month.

Um, wanna take kiddo to Cedar Point and catch up with Scarecrow. :)

Would love to see DB again this summer.

Still wanna hook up with Nutworld.

If we drive thru Iowa then wanna catch Chey and Cobalt and hopefully meet IowaMan too.

Still trying to get WWotN to come down on Amtrak and see us. Keep promising her we won't go to Cleveland. :) (unless she really wants too....*wink wink*.)

We have lots of little mini vacations but I miss taking a week off just to either go somewhere or sit home even.

Soda looks like you will have a nice relaxing summer just hanging out. LMAO

Hey, that'd be cool to have the Iowa, Illinois and Michigan contingents meet somewhere like the Quad Cities, or Muscatine, or Burlington and do lunch together.

Let a lot of us meet and at least visit a bit. Not quite a PAGAN, but maybe we could call it the IMP ... Iowa Meeting of Pixies. :)

Heck, who knows, maybe Red-Green and others could stop in, too, if they were so inclined. Make it an overnighter or something.

Actually we could even meet in Illinois around Peoria and make the highlight a River Cruise on the paddlewheeler (The Spirit of Peoria) that docks in Peoria. Lots of good food places; hotels and things to see and do. Could even still use "IMP" ... Illinois Meeting of Pixies."

Scarecrow, Cedar Point would have to be in July or August since I hope kiddo will be gone during June. :D

Last week of July or first week of Aug is when I used to get my vacation, so I'm used to going around that time of year. Monday thru Wednesday have fewer peps there, so we can just set a convenient time for all of us. I'm easy LOL

Okay ... where sounds good to all you IA, IL and MI folks (not to mention anyone else that's interested?) ... and should we aim for an overnighter in July (date suggestions?)?
