If you had the $$ necessary for start up, what sort of business would you develop?
|
i would start a greenhouse/crafts shoppe with my bestfriend. She is an excellent artist, sculptor, and has a green thumb like you wouldn't believe. I am also a bit of a painter, i love throwing a pot on the wheel every now and again, and i love plants, although they don't like me sometimes, lol. If business was slow, then we would be interior decorators; we take what the customer has already, rearrange and change the room for the better for under $500. The $500 would include out fees and any extra enhancements, paint, fabrics, et cetera.
we have talked about it for years.... |
Whatever there was a big market for, whatever I could make the most money in. Around here, as things are really developing, I'd say a nice hotel would be a good idea.

A Friesian Horse Stud.....with some minature horses on the side :D
|
I'd start a non-profit organization to teach underprivelaged adults and all students how to draft a *good* resume, career planning skills, and interviewing techniques
|
Um................................................ ..........................
.................................................. ............................ .................................................. ............................ .................................................. ............................ .................................................. ............................ Oh hell...I tried and nothing came to me! Seems, it's not the money that matters. *sigh* |
A restoration shop for antique tractors and horse drawn farm equip.
Two things that I have found is people moving to the country from the city is they want a small tractor to mow with and a lawn ornament( wagon, plow or something). With the blacksmiths shop to draw people in, its slow but picking up |
I think either a photography and/or art studio. Yep. I think that'd be it.
|
I have always wanted to start a shop in partnership with my sister, who is very talented. We would sale/trade books, have an area for kids to play, a little cafe/deli and crafts.
|
IF I had the money.................
I already had the business here on the farm. Just had to give it up for the divorce. :( Raising baby calves from a bottle until they weighed about 700 lbs. That and gettin some more mama cows and puttting 4 calves to a cow til they were weaned. A moneymaker I tell ya! Then I could quit my damn town job! :thumb: |

Yeah people wasting GOOD farmland for a homesite and don't know their ass from a hole in the ground about farming. Wasting good land for a homesite just so they can say they live in the country. :rolleyes2 . I'm beginning to wonder........where the hell are the cows gonna eat??????????? And they ALWAYS want to waste YOUR time trying to teach them! FUCK THAT! Borrow your equipment and tear it up and bring it back unrepaired.... Dump their batteries off the bridge in your creek (among other things) contaminating the water. Not realizing the cows that they are gonna eat DRINK that water! They have no idea what it costs to run a farm. :hair: |

If you have that much $$, you don't have to start anything. :) But I would. ;) Seeing the present trend for body art, especially with the gender crossover, I honestly believe that in 5 to 10 years, there will be a market for tattoo removal. It presently is very costly and of poor quality. I would be watching developments in this field and especially watching for nano technology application. |
Mine would be a combination of 1) a gift store with quality items in a wide price range so everybody could afford something, 2) an area for local crafts people to sell thier items (the space being free of charge), everything from paintings, to needlework, Girl/Boy Scout crafts, etc., 3) a coffee shop/bakery, a friendly cozy place with seating that welcomed all to sit and visit away from the daily rush.
:) |
I've toyed with this before as people keep telling me the true way to make money is to be the owner... but I'm not a large risk-taker and am quite pleased to work for someone else and have the security of knowing that I will receive a regular and steady income.
