How Long is Long?

Hearing it's Mr. & Mrs. WildIrish's 15th wedding anniversary ( Happy Anniversary! :cake::hump::cake: ) I started wondering when you hear people have been together for _____ many years does it make you think..."geez that's a long time"??? In today's climate of serial monogamy what is a long length of time for a realtionship, from your point of view?

jseal 07-14-2005 11:29 AM

Lilith,

A lifetime.

Two nights! :jester:

Congrats to you and the saintly missus, WI!

And Irish and his wife just celebrated 40 years of wedded bliss in May!

I used to think that about ten years, then fifteen, now it's twenty. I raise it so I don't have to think about "damn have I been married a long time!". ha ha

Isn't long when it's been longer than you can bear?

My 18 years with my ex went like a bullet.

Is it a good idea to eat chili for lunch today? :yikes:

I always figured 5 years was a long time, till I got there...now it's 10. (We're nearly at 9).

But it raises a question I've always had...when you say you've been together for a long time, how do you count it? Dating? Sleeping together (if different, <blush>)? Living together? Married?

I just recently (a few weeks ago) heard the sweetest story about just this subject.

A couple in England, by the last name of Aerosmith (yoooohooo!) were documented by the Guinness <sp?> people as being the oldest living married couple on the planet. The reason the story had aired is because, at 104 y/o, Mr. Aerosmith had died after 80 years of bliss with Mrs. Aerosmith. She is 102 y/o...and I am saddened to think that she'll not last much longer after losing the love of her life...and everyone else's life who had come and gone before them!

He'd given a statement as to the longevity of their marriage..."I say Yes Dear a lot"!

Everyone say...Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Happy Anniversary WI and Mrs. WI! May the next 65+ years be as wonderful!

Congrats on 15 years WI! :line:

This is REAL spooky y'know; I got married to my Ex on the SAME day as you and Mrs WI tied the knot - July 14 1990.
In my case, I've thought for a while now that it being "Bastille Day" in France was quite appropriate for us, given how often we fought!!

Anyhow, I digress - hope you two had a fuck-tastic day/night...... and here's to many more years together!!

Cheers.
