Fly Me to the Moon
Help!!!
I am by no means a handyman/woman, but I have the dreaded task ahead of me this weekend of helping my 9-year old build his Cub Scout Space Derby rocket. For those of you unfamiliar (as I was), it is similar to a Pinewood Derby in that you're given wood and little else and told to go make a mode of transportation. I've scoured the internet for hints and suggestions, but I honestly am at a loss at where to even start on this, how to shape it, etc. Anyone have any ideas? |

Thanks--I hadn't seen that particular page, actually. I think I'm more terrified at the *thought* of trying to do this than anything--I'll probably do fine once I dive into it. :D

I'm sure you will too!

Oh my! I wish I could lend you Mr. Lixy. He loves playing with his woo...er...loves playing with wood crafts!
Best of luck IAKG! Please get some pics when you finish! |
:) Update
Just a quick update for everyone. Dear son and I somehow got the rocket together and painted this weekend, but the real test was tonight.
Rocket IAKG won two of the four races it entered. |
Good for both of you! :thumb:
|
Did you both have fun building and racing it? That's what it's about. ;)
|
It boldly went . . .
|
Was there ever really any doubt? ;)

Awwwww...thanks, guys! And yes, PF, once I got over the intimidation I had from a block of balsa wood, some craft paint, and an Xacto knife, we were fine. :)
