Transitions — Marcel Marceau
The French mime Marcel Marceau died yesterday. He was 84 years old.
His real name was Marcel Mangel. His most famous character was Bip, the white faced clown wearing a striped jumper and a battered silk hat. Supposedly, he was inspired to become a mime by the great actors of the silent era such as Charlie Chaplin & Buster Keaton. I had the good fortune to see him perform; he was marvelously expressive. RIP sir. |
Wow, there's someone I haven't heard about in a while.
|
In Mel Brook's 1976 Silent Movie,Marcel was the only one with a spoken line. A very funny man. He will be missed.
|
I have nothing to say about his passing.

I heard they buried him in an imaginary coffin. :p

It appears that our Bip was a hero durring WW11. He joined the french resistance against the occupation where he altered ID cards for children so they could avoid deportation.
