Border Communiqué
I’ve been asked a number of times about proper documentation for Canada/USA border crossing at the present time, and I’m happy to tell you it is not an issue.  In light of the rapid changes, I felt compelled to wade DEEP into the ‘bluraucracy’ for a statement I could post with some confidence.
Summery- (with reference links for both countries)
Any US citizen, bring your drivers license and have a certified copy of your birth certificate handy.

Any non-US citizen from some countries (like Australia!) going into
Canada from the US only needs the passport and visa that got them into the US.

Many changes are proposed, scheduled and under discussion by political grandstanders and in the Department of Homeland Security and the Keystone Cop’s Committee for Chinese Fire Drills, to take effect 31 December 2006, but this is it for now.
