I would suggest Branson,Mo. reasonable rooms, decent to really good food,music shows for most all tastes for the nitelife,close by in Springfield is a civil war battle field for the history buffs,and Bass pro not just a store but a walk thru meausem.It is some what centrally located for a lot of Pixies.Also there are 2 lakes right there all in a National Forest,Hikeing,lots of nice campgrounds.
