There are actual wire cheese slicers available at any grocery store for about $3-4...if you go for the homemade one, you might want to specify an unwound guitar string, & since they come in a variety of guages, probably thinner is better, like a high E string (.012 to .008)...
& pre-sliced cheese isn't that pricey compared to a trip to the ER
