I work weird split shifts, too. I turn off my phone because most calls I get are stupid recorded messages from moving companies, etc. I can understand not wanting to turn off your phone but I could never do it. There are enough distractions when you're trying to sleep, when you *have* to get as much sleep possible in a short time frame.
Sometimes my boss would call about something the night before but she must have figured out that I'm not usually up at 08:00 a.m. and now emails me.
I've never heard of an employer coming to an employee's house. That's insane!
I would definitely take Aqua's advice and then move on to Lou's HR route if things aren't solved.
My boss recently asked me to work a couple of weekend graveyard shifts (notice I said asked) and I negotiated some concessions of my own and told her I'd see how it went because it is an insane schedule.
It sounds like your employer depends on you too much. Have you spoken to them about how the constant shift changes affect you?
