You can export favorites into a file and then import them back after you've done what you want. (To save the exported file, dump it to a CD) I did that when I got my current machine. Exported my favorites ... then dumped them to a CD (really miss floppies for something like this  ) ... the imported them onto my current machine.  Worked good.
