We're all gas/electric here, an electric heat pump actually pumps very *cool* air, so it's really not efficient, even here in the heart of TVA-cheap electricity. Used to have a wood fireplace which was converted to gas logs, which was a life-saver for my mother during the 2 week power outage 14 years ago (I was then living a few miles away, & was greatly inconvenienced when I lost my cable for about an hour). Of course I gave up the gas logs when I had them take down the Leaning Chimney Of Crieve Hall nearly two years ago.
