First thing I'd do is toss XP in the big round file and get hold of a copy of Windows 2000pro for all your online and non gaming needs .Then I'd install a copy of 98SE for all your gaming needs. XP has so many security holes in it for internet use it's not even funny and then there's the compatability dramas that occur unless you've got all the latest (or relatively new) hardware and software. As for gaming ,even with the compatability wizard I've found that most games that are older than about 98-99 still won't run cleanly. Personally I can't get my older games to recognise my soundblaster sound card in XP even though the very same setup works perfectly when running 98SE...... and it's not just my latest setup either as WDs system has on board sound and has the same problem and my old PII system was also the same with a 3D sound card.
Just my 2 bobs worth. I'll go crawl back into me dark corner now
