In conversation with Oldfart jr, he brought up that Hawaii was near the equator. I said that it wasn't and we checked. It is technically tropical being south of Cancer by a couple of degrees, but at 21 degrees North it's not near the equator. Further thought took me to the realisation that PF is only another 20 degrees North of Hawaii.
